I raised wheat-oats-corn & alfalfa = Hereford cattle = Qtr. horses = German Shepard dogs = 2 boys & a little hell.
When I was 7 in the early 1950s (when picking was really good), I started collecting old car parts, like a Roosevelt grille shell !! from junk piles in our pasture and the neighbor's. I spent what little $$ I had buying Hot Rod magazine, Elvis 45's, & customizing my Schwinn bike that I still have .
I bought my first car, a 1928 Essex 2 dr. sedan when I was 14, dropped in a Hemi/auto in our farm shop. I bought a 1957 Olds 98 Holiday Sedan at 16. I did some oval dirt track racing with Ford & Ply cars @ 17-20. Bought a new Road Runner in '69. Always loved lots of HP.
My dad died when I was 12 so I started farming when I was 16 in high school.
I'm retired & it's time to get serious about building my '48 Ford Super DeLuxe coupe I've had in the quonset for some 35 yrs. It was bought new here in town by the neighbors hired man & has stayed here its entire life !! Great shape, highly optioned, rust free. Doesn't get much better.
