I've always loved the local drags and speedway. As a kid I'd ride to the drags on my push-bike. The people at the gate didn't know what to do with an unaccompanied child: charge me full price, let me in free or send me home. I'd point out that the most dangerous part of the whole affair was riding out to the strip on the highway. I'd usually end up with a pit pass.
The family car was a 1960s citroen dyane. It remains in the family today and with today's petrol prices, its 602ccs of throbbing gristle is gold.
I always detested "normal" cars and was never destined to drive one so, at 17, my first car was the '55 dodge kingsway. I still drive it. I've had it 22 years, now, original 250 1/2 cubic inch flathead and all, daily driven. It originally cost me $1000. The old girl has done alright, I reckon.Interact
