I had a Flaming River Vega box in my coupe. It wore out early on. I replaced it with a Unisteer. That worked great.
I use the stuff that makes the tires look new, kinda a semigloss. The shiney crap makes the tires look like plastic.
Rock Auto lists both new and rebuilt Chevrolet points distributors. From about $75 for a rebuilt to about $275 new.
Are you talking just the roof rails, or a whole roof rack?
But, a lot of the newer VW switches are Chinese made crap. If you can get new German made Bosch or Hella brand, those last.
I would disconnect the charging port at the port itself, first. If it still kills the fuse, start chasing it from there.
Have you tried turning the radio up?
