Before i even opened this thread, i thought coupe....either black or maroon.
Those were the only choices for my own.
I went black but bought satin maroon too. Lol
My first instinct is everything should be black, shiny or not......
BUT, i love maroon. Its literally my second favorite color., and truthfully the photoshop looks killer so id honestly go that route.
You wont go wrong either way.

I think the maroon shows the body lines better.

you cant go wrong either way! Im leaning towards maroon, but it depends on the details. What engine? what caps/wheelcovers? what steering wheel and what gauges?

Maroon or black. Yep, got my vote!

  8. Well there aren't but two colors to paint a hot rod, black or ugly. I vote ugly for that one. ;)

Maroon will look good on it. Black is a natural but maroon will catch a lot of attention if attention is what you crave. :D

I guess you could paint it the same color as the engine, invisible is a pretty cool color.

  9. I've had as many as 5 black cars in the the garage at one time, but have had several cars in various shades of "maroon/burgundy"...........for this one I've joined the polling crowd. Now, your decisions aren't over, do you go for a "clean" color (e.g. straight maroon toner right out of the mixing bank can) or one of the "muddier" tones similar to some OE Ford colors. Warm or cool, bright or subtle, ah the choices..........

Based on poll results, and if our opinion really matters you will own a maroon coupe in the near future.

This color came to mind prior to Petejoe's post. But since it wasn't an option, I didn't mention it. But damn, that's sharp! There's an OT car that color around here, and it absolutely pops!

    Maroon.
Can't go wrong with either, but there probably won't be 3 maroon coupes at next car show. You, or your friends, will be able to find yours after-hours, in the dark.

  21. car show? I can' even remember the last time I was at a car show. probably at least 3 cars ago. :D :D :D

I like what Henry used to say; "you can have any color as long as it's BLACK"...

  24. I like both, but voted for maroon.
Now gold, that's a whole different ballgame, and looks pretty, just doesn't scream badass, like black or maroon.

I'll go a little deeper into color choice....
I said i bought maroon for mine. It was bought before the black i used because that was actually my first choice.
The one and only single reason i went black was this...
To me, maroon needs chrome accents to really look great...
Meaning suspension. In my minds eye, my car needed chrome bones front and rear, front axle and steering linkage or it would have looked blah.
And im a poor bastard and chroming that stuff wasnt an option so i went black....ALL black.
If i had the coin i would have dipped that stuff and gone maroon.
You can do it all black and it'll still look pretty good, but a color like a deep maroon is classy and should have some brightwork to accent it.
Just my worthless 2 cents. :)
Btw, your 5 winder is looking good!

I just painted one black, but I voted maroon. (I don't know what that says about me).

You can't go wrong with either.
    It looks fantastic.

    This! Smart reply.

In short the body color should be part of a bigger set of decisions. Body color, frame color, motor color, interior, suspension...and so on. Not just pick a color and then try to make everything work with it.

Brady, I would go with the maroon but maybe just a little lighter. The color you have here looks great but chrome will really set it off. I am leaning towards a maroon on my '31 but I am also adding a lot of chrome. This includes a gas cap, wiper arms, hood latches, door handles, rumble seat handle, grill, bumpers, headlights, wheels, etc.. Bob
