(RR3) That sounds like a typical June/July in MI were the grandkids are, 95 deg with 90% humidity with an afternoon Thunder Storm each day. (tom) looks like 95 on wed and no wind to cool it a bit. I new there was a reason I like the beach in Ventura, CA so much. I think the rain is done for this year and we only got 3" in Bako this winter. Going to be a long hot summer this year. Butch may have to raise entry fee a few bucks so we can run ANRA races under the lights and maybe head light shineing down Eagle Field for old time runway night drag racing.
I know about the heat/humidity thing Roy, spent a year in Virginia in the army and did the "Scenic Southeast Asia Tour" too. Don't know if it's my meds, my age, or the combination, but the heat kicks my butt too.
Yeah Tom, I know what you mean. Who would think that you could be freezin' your butt off when the temp dropped to 78 at night. We were younger then and there was plenty of 33 and Crown to help stay hydrated and everyone took salt tablets by the handful.
I think a drive in a Modified Roadster is in order.....you think Old6 can stuff you in again? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Getting in isn't a problem Rocky, I made three passes at Eagle, two Saturday and one Sunday. Getting out is the problem.
Hi Kids, still here, buried in other projects (how in the hell they keep getting in the way of working on the Rabbit is beyond my comprehension) and getting close to resuming construction. I know that you have all heard that song before, but I figure that if I actually start working on the car we might finally get some of the winter weather that we have been missing. Feel sorry for the folks in the north east, but I will gladly share some of the 80 plus degree days that have been hanging over our February so far for a little cold air and some real damned rain.
Time to move. $500 bucks and 1 months work and that thing will make noise. kinda wish you lived closer so I could help you out. At our age, fun factor and race cars take #1 priority. Food and living expenses #2. Can`t eat anything good anyway.
Well 440, if 75-80 is the new Feb temp it should be 100+ for the March Meet this year. Your burning good building weather on non race projects that you have put off for years, a few more months will not be a big deal. Really looking forward to hearing that motor and seeing your first airport burn out. We ain't getting any younger so hit that shop & make some sparks.
Waiting with baited breath. Wish you'd hurry up cuz nobody likes worms in their mouth. Seriously you've kept all us curious guys waiting long enough. The car is too unique to keep it unfinished and hidden away.
I know what you are saying guys. It's just that I made a commitment to build some things for some special people in my life and that has to take priority right now. Don't give up, things will start happening soon.
Going on to eight years of flogging on this thing and getting older and more decrepit every day. I'm thinking that enough is enough. I'm gonna put this project on the back burner and build an altered wheelbase match racer out of my '64 Polara and have some fun.
Just saying, it needs a straight axle up front and move the rear about 18" forward and I'll be a happy camper.
Ha Tom, is that 440-4 speed car? Is it a daily driver? Sure would be a lot easier to get in and out of.
It's a 440-727. I'm in the middle of the "brake job from hell" (long story), but intend for it to become a daily driver sometime this year if all goes well. Too many things going on right now, but I still keep getting up in the morning so I can't complain. Really do hope to get back on the Rabbit soon.
From the guy who sold his car to build a door slammer. Hey Nigel, I'm old and slow (the car will be too), but there will be progress soon. Just seems to be a lot of "need to do" other stuff at the moment (it is getting done finally) and then the Rabbit will have priority.
Just checking in. I remembered today that I've never complimented you on your homemade guitars. I don't play but I like neat stuff when I see it. thanks & have a good day.
Thanks for the kind words. I have a lot of fun building the Cigar Box Guitars when I have a chance to fit some time in out in the shop and make sawdust. I don't play very well myself, but have a few friends who do, so I get to hear how good they can sound. Someday I may actually learn how to make them sing well by myself.
old sparks -- I bet if we told 440 he could not go to any more "Eagle Field Races" until he finished his ride that dragster would be done next week. Get with it Tom, we want to see it run and were not getting any younger.
I know what you are saying guys, just been buried in those little "need to get done" projects around the house and waiting for slightly cooler weather because the high 80s and above stuff kicks my butt. I need to get the "brake job from hell" done on my '64 and get it back running and then I'll be back on the Rabbit with a passion. Meanwhile I have done some small stuff on the car, but nothing worth writing about.
OK Tom enough of this s--t get the Rabbit Done!!! Eagle is running out of patience, the tortoise is winning.
To much to do? get up earlier, stay away from the magic recliner and work early mornings when it`s cool.
