I think it would be far easier to finish the car than to read all the helpful words each morning. :D
Better work mornings as it is going to be a hot week.
Be assured we will not let up until she burns rubber.:)

0600 is early enough and after 45 years of O'too early I'll take my time. We're out for our hour and a quarter to hour and a half morning walk to keep the parts functional by 0800 and lately it's been hot and shitty by the time we get home. Don't do the recliner, but sometimes stuff gets in the way of things happening. I'll admit that age and infirmary has slowed me down a bit. When it's ready to happen it will.

Don't prod the man. He's likely to get ornery.

Yeah, those infirmities'll send ya to the infirmary every time. ;)

Don't knock recliners, 'Sparks, God invented'em for a reason.
    I'm certain of it. :D

I`m not knocking recliners. I love mine so much, I`ve named it. Just trying to light a fire. Doesn`t seem to be working.

Don't need any fire, it's over 100 degrees on our patio and the forecast shows hot and shitty through the weekend.

Started the year off with a bang. Totaled our 2003 Dodge Stratus daily driver on January 5th (long story not worth repeating, but we weren't hurt). That promoted my 2006 Dodge Quad Cab Cummins 4x4 to daily (and for the moment only) driver. Actually working on the brake job from hell on my '64 Polara so we will have back up transport and once it's running again work will start on the Rabbit.
Really going to work on it this year with the goal of making a pass on the street out front of my house. Then...Look out Rocky, we're going to Eagle Field.

Things are really happening in the Rabbit hutch.

Actually finished "the brake job from hell" on March 30th and been driving the '64 440 now and then. Must admit it still brings a big grin to my face every time I fire the beast up.

After ten years I replaced the batteries in the '06 Cummins because I felt that I was pushing the limit on battery life for the OEM equipment and have the old ones on a maintenance charger on the shelf giving me two batteries that will be pressed into service on the Rabbit (not both at the same time, don't need that much ballast) so I can get the battery mount made and run the wiring. Working on the the layout of the cooling system and plumbing to the turtle deck where the water will be carried. I figure if I'm going to have weight from the water (8 lbs per gallon) it may as well be in the back where it will serve an added purpose as ballast. Also going to put a functional deck lid for access to things in the back as well.

No pictures yet as I figure on waiting until there are some things worthy of taking pictures of before I take any, but things are happening here at the "Bunny Works". Meanwhile I'm relying on the 440 to keep the neighborhood awake and occasionally leave some tracks around the area.

I didn't do it, nobody saw me do it and they can't prove it anyway.

Don't know what happened to all the pictures. Guess when I have some serious down time I need to regenerate a history of pictures on here. For now, here's a short progress set. More to come soon.

I really love the front suspension setup! The intake/exhaust too. My first racer was a Plymouth flatty but I sure never dreamed of something this cool. I guess that if you are marching to your own drum then this is the way to go. No one can accuse you of being a copycat. :D:D

truth 209_n.jpg Actually, it's slowly getting dug out. Scored a radiator from a late 30's vintage Dodge truck for the cooling system, along with another transmission and some other good bits. If the temperatures will just drop back into the 80s (hell, high 80s would be a big improvement) progress will start showing out in the shop.

The project has been on hold most of the last year. Too much life stuff going on and other things needing attention. Hope to get back on it in the New Year.

Reality.......been on hold too damn long. What with this current plague and "lock-down" situation I may actually have to do some work on the project to keep from going stir crazy. It may be April first but it could happen.

Oh well, I guess the Rabbit is going to be on hold for a bit longer. As you can see by my avatar change something else has taken priority. The other love in my life and the source of my site name has moved up in the pecking order. When I bought the '64 440 (with a 440 for power) back in the early 2000's the plan all along was to make a street-able mid 60's match racer from it and the time has come. The front end it getting torn out and it's getting a straight axle, going on a bit of a diet and let the games begin.

For now I may throw an occasional picture in here with a possible build thread linked from here in the future. Don't worry, the Rabbit isn't dead, just taking a sabbatical for now.

OK, here's a teaser picture of progress in the month of November. "Boris", my '64 440 has been shedding bit's and pieces and losing weight in the process. Probably 100 lbs or so gone from the nose so far, it's amazing how much extra metal is tacked inside the front fenders of these things. More heading to the scrap bins in the next few weeks. Here's a look at the basic layout so far. 20201204_151027.jpg

Looking over the shop notes. It seems that so far 298 lbs of stuff has gone from the front of the '64 into the scrap bin. Plan is to weigh everything coming off and everything going on for a tally of the weight loss. Actually did a little on the Rabbit too. Nothing picture worthy, but will post pictures as things develop.
