One of these little Shastas showed up in the campground we were camping at this weekend!

  7. Yes, The Grapes of Wrath is a great novel about a very important time in American history. If you ever get the chance to see the original movie with Henry Fonda you will be moved to see the suffering and sacrifice made not only by Oklahomans but Texas Panhandle and areas of Kansas and Arkansas Farmers. Little known, but in the Oklahoma region in addition to poor farming practices, it had not rained for nearly seven years, with this combination, nothing could survive.

The Carousel Restaurant Before Demolition - Portland, Oregon
The Carousel Restaurant stood in the canyon on Terwillger Blvd for some 50 or so years. It specialized in "carnival" fare, like burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, and pretzels. Customers could sit beside a waterfall that ran down the cliffs above, thanks to a large outdoor seating area. A 1965 Portland visitor's guide says about the place: "I couldn't imagine a nicer place to take your best girl on a Sunday." By the 1990's the site was a teriyaki restaurant, but only briefly. The building was torn down in 2007 and is now the site of more parking spaces in the old lot.

  10. It was originally named the Carnival Restaurant, and only became the Carousel when the Inman family leased out the building after closing the Carnival. Most of the circus style artwork was done by Edward B. Quigley, Genevra Inman's second husband. http://www.ochcom.org/quigley/

  11. That was my first job, at Bob Ashley's Texaco. We went through the drill on EVERY car that came in, hot and cold weather. $1/hr.
The only perk was an occassional panty peek, compliments of some sweet thing, while you were cleaning the windshield or whisk brooming the floor boards. Summer was best, with the beach close by.:D

At the Gulf station I worked at about three or four loafers would always have some excuse to "help" me clean the windshiels when a chicky was in the front seat. There was one MILF that came in a couple times a week that never wore panties and would flash the bush every time, she must have gotten off on watching our tounges hang out!
