My upholstery guy is having a hard time finding the right color. We found something close in his book, Empire Green, but the supplier said it's discontinued. Any online vendors that'll work with me to find the right color green? Doesn't have to be perfect, just somewhat close. I looked at 'The upholstery thread to end all threads' but it's 24 pages long. The paint on the car is called Firemist Green. Here's the color vinyl I'm looking for.......
While my answer will make a lot of guys groan here Amazon. Where I was able to find the white metal flake vinyl I wanted
I used the green zodiac on some stuff when I had my green 32. It was close to your color. I gave up before I found a perfect match. Good luck in your hunt. I think your car will be good.
For anyone else searching.........I'm not sure what colors they have as I really didn't pay attention as they have a lot, but I needed red and white for a go-cart project. I went to Hobby Lobby. They had vinyl for $5 a yard. it seemed as good to me as the $30 a yard "marine" vinyl that the other local place was selling.
I'm after an orange vinyl for my interior, I see several marine places carry orange but many have a "UV" warning on it as in it doesn't pass the 300? Hour test. I guess it's a good thing then that I'm putting a roof in the Ole tudor.... ...
Don't laugh, try EBAY. I needed some wool mohair. Hirsch's supplier went out of business so none was available. I found some on EBAY for quite a lot less than I was paying. I bought all he had left.
I went with F-head's recommendation and contacted Del Kern Sales in Bakerfield. They have some colors that look really close. Samples are on the way! I keep the build thread in the social forums cuz there's a couple of items that are OT...... Evintho's '54 Customline build | The H.A.M.B. (jalopyjournal.com)
Del Kern also has a line of metalflake vinyl that has an interesting green color I’ll post up a pic tomorrow when I get out to my shop Some of the off brand Zodiac style vinyl has a non stretch backing and is really difficult to work with I’d suggest whatever you choose get a sample first and make sure your upholstery guy likes it
