Joey you stated that G.W.H.S. had the only auto shop in the school system. I graduated from Galileo High School, San Francisco, California in 1958. At that time, we had a very good auto shop, and a very knowledgeable teacher, Frank Presoto, and yes, he drove a DeSoto, a 1939 model 4 door sedan. Mr. Presoto also taught machine shop. I was in both of his shop classes in my junior and senior years. Those were the only years that I attended Galileo High School. Mr. Presoto was a great teacher and we learned a lot from him. I am sorry to hear that Galileo High School does not have the auto shop anymore, there were a lot of memories there. Mr. Presoto always started a new auto shop class with the same question to us know-it-alls. When you pack the front wheel bearings, "which do you use, fine, or coarse valve grounding compound ", and the reason for using which type ? After a couple of minutes he would ask one of the students from the previous year what did he use. That student would say that he uses wheel bearing grease. That let us know that we didn't know everything. I have remembered that all of these years, and I sometimes ask some know-it-all what does he use. Some people don't like to be embarrassed.
Good "SHIT", enjoy your day trip it's like we can ride along. That roadster is low compared to your car. Very cool. Most of the snowbirds have gone north which we love the traffic is much better. Still some car shows going on in SW Florida. Having fun in the sun!
Two dudes...out with their cars. Nice write-up and photos! Hope some kids from the school were there...
