The Jalopy Journal
I have followed the build from the get go. You have absolutely nailed it, the truck is perfect.
I had a 56 98 coupe as well and from memory the whole Starfire X member was thicker. I would guess twice as thick as the coupe X member.
I think I have posted these pics for you before. I no longer have the chassis so can't measure the thickness for you sorry.[ATTACH] [ATTACH] [ATTACH]
Do you ever rest?
Surely this car would be at the top of the "Holy Grail cars yet to be found"?
Great to see you back Kev and best wishes on your health recovery. Russell.
I asked this question in your other thread but didn't see a reply. There don't appear to be any tail lights on your sedan? or am I missing something?
We had plenty of 4 door sedans in New Zealand (all right hand drive) but I don't think I have ever seen 1 with side mount spares. I also don't see...
Here is mine.[ATTACH] [ATTACH]
Good luck with the search.
Are you still looking for a chassis? Thought you may have sorted it by now?
It will bolt up but check the bush in the rear of the crank is correct. From memory there were different size bushings for the 2 types of trans.
Just curious as to what happened to the other cars (and 32 grill shells) in the background?
I hope your recovery goes well. Really enjoying this build thread.
Yes I too lurked for a couple of years before joining.
That is awesome. I had often wondered what was happening with the coupe.
That car is stunning. Well done.
Give it time.LOL.

The steel on an Olds convert frame is twice as heavy as a non convert. Big difference in weight and strength. I have some photos on the home...
Not sure. I think from memory it was an Erson cam. Car and engine have long been sold.
Have you talked to Adrian at Franklin Cams? I had an old solid lifter cam for my 324 rocket motor and he reground it to suit hydraulic lifters....
Just gone back through some old photos, this one is fairly clear as to crossmember.[ATTACH]
Turn the crossmember around.
Been a while since I had the motor and trans out of my 98 (jetaway) but from memory there are 2 different positions the rear mounts can bolt to...
Haha. You would probably spend that amount at the chrome shop?
They are showing for me. You are #282.
Do it. And swap the flathead for your spare Olds rocket.
That is looking great. You should be extremely proud of the finished product.
