Ok here goes, Been wanting a odball gasser type car, and contiplated buying Royalshifter Morris. Then I ran accross this on craigslist. Built in the late 60s in Dinuba Ca. Said to have ran all the local and California tracks. Was put on the streets in 83 and 84 Then parked and stored. Guy I bought it from started to put together, but lost interest. So if you central Ca guys Know any history or have pictures I would love to see them. I put the front wheels on it other than that she the way she came. 8 and 3/4 posi rearend Etc. plans call for a 13to1 289 with aluminum heads, ant convert to a straight axle. Enough talk heres the pics....1955 volvo pv444 GASSER

That's bitchin'!
I'd LOVE to see more pics of it--full interior shots, rear suspension, inside the trunk and under the hood. -Brad

Always thought a PV would make a cool gasser and you have the early PV with the split screen, double cool!!!. Very fond of these cars and looked at one recently but it was over £8k and out of my price range.
Good luck, have fun!!

Rad car man.......love the stance. Of course it's yours to do what ever the hell you want with but if non cookie cutter is the goal why swap in a straight axle? Is the front end original to the build or is it a latter addition?.......I kinda dig the early cars with their standard independent front end jacked up high with longer springs......any how, just wondering.....the car is killer, nice score.

Man, that trunk shot is very telling... looks like the car was really well-built and designed. Doesn't look hacked or cobbled together like so many cars from back then.
Interesting that the guy didn't put a straight axle under it, too. I wonder if he figured the stock front suspension was lighter than an I-beam and a pair of leaf springs. -Brad

looks like original front suspension and steering, although the picture is not so great.
Nice car! Even has the right wheels on it. I know where there's a 544 with bad floors....hmmmm..... |

On another note, the rear suspension is ladder bars with 1/4 elliptic springs....JOHN

Tuff lookin` little car. A buddy of mine had one like it in the 70`s , along with an identical painted `47 Ford tudor. Both had the same 5spokes on em; kinda looked like a mini version of the same car. That thing will make for a cool ride.
