1927 - The Ford Motor Company announced that its popular automobile model, the Model T, known as the Tin Lizzie, would not be rolling off assembly lines anymore. Instead, the discontinued car would be replaced by the more modern Model A. The first Model T was manufactured in 1908, designed, the Ford Motor Company stated, “as an inexpensive vehicle for the great multitude.” It was also the first item produced on an assembly line (Henry Ford’s new production system). By 1918, half of all motor cars in the entire world were Tin Lizzies. |

Wow, That's very cool! I'd love one.. even if it only did 45 mph.

My stone stock 1912 will do 45, a modified with overhead valves should get you to 80MPH without trouble. Bob

T's were the some of the first hot rods, and as the saying goes..one thing leads to another. T's are my favorite

I refer to my Model A RPU as a Tin Lizzy sometimes. It's an AR [after remodel] Never found production numbers of the AR. Read somewhere there where 225 made but who knows. Any AR guys out there/

Ok, I've got my flame suit on, so here goes. Henry's assembly line as well as some of the T's engines were designed and built by the Dodge Brothers.

Lots of parts on my 1912 have DB (Dodge Brothers) in raised letters, front axle and spindles are the first that come to mind. Wonder if anyone has made a list of all the T parts with DB markings.

Steering wheel metal part is marked DB on one i had. I also think the earliest pre-T Ford cars were entirely build by the Dodge Bros...maybe the '0-something? original A model? |
