Default flathead 99 block

just took the heads of my flathead and found out it's a 99t.what is the big deal?tardel book says they are highly sought for race motors why?

Believed to have the thickest cylinder walls of all the flathead blocks. Is yours factory relieved?

What do you need to know? 99A was introduced in the '39 Mercury and was a 239 when the Ford was a 221. The 99T was the truck version. I have a 29A '42 Mercury version in my '29 rpu. The pre-war Mercs seemed to be the desirable engines for racers because, as I stated earlier, it was believed they had the thickest cylinder walls.
