Looks really good in green. (I liked the natural finish too). Not many racers ran in a rusty state back then. (I first drag raced in 1957) So you are more correct in paint.

I'm floored by how nicely you made the body fit your car. It looks like it was the plan all along.

Oh yes, I do recall how many of'em (and shortly later, us as well) rolled in rattle-can primer, and spoke glowingly of the color she'd be "one day" back then.

Actually, I did design'er with this option as an intended possibility .... "one day".
Well, for once, "one day" finally got here.

Photo taken by Novedude55 and posted on the main board in the Eagle Field thread.

Too bad the driver isn't in it.

Looks even better painted. Definitely one cool hotrod. Wait until he gets it lettered and the art work on it.

Some great pics of the Barn Job, and even its inventor in these threads.

Nice pictures of the Tub in those threads, car looks great.

Dick, looked like like a good turnout, how did you run

Any information on the track operation and how often they run?

The turnout was great. We were all a bit worried that with the new track, and the short lead time they had, folks wouldn't have time to plan it in. I think the closer locale trumped the problems.
There were a load of old friends there, and I finally got to yak with our local celeb Mazooma for a bit (good egg there).

I blew it. The car ran great, but I went red first round (-.027). She ran 8.6xx & 80+ all day. I hadn't expected that, as the HA/GMR bod adds 108 lbs, and a bit of wind resistance. It's only .400 slower in the 1/8 than in HA/GR trim (no bod). I can make that up next year, with a bit more engine.
I hope to add 1/4 figures the weekend after next, at Butch's ANRA meet.

The operation was a bit dis-coordinated, but only a bit, and nowhere near as bad as it could've been given it's their first time at a new track. The club only runs this meet once a year, so I don't yet know how the rest of the meets here operate. When they get their schedule back together, I'll attend some and let y'all know how it goes.

The 4.62 gears're really a kick in the ass, I've been cutting .0++ lights fairly consistently since I put'em in.
I think a bit less weight, and a bit more engine, and I can have'er reliably in high 12s, pretty much my design target (where's a "slavering & drooling" icon when you need it?).

Dick, Thanks for the feedback on the "Fourever Four Antique National" race. Glad you had a good time and it sounds like the race was a success. I hope it continues at the "New Dale" as you call it, got to be nice to have a place thats close to home.

Lets hope the tracks operation keeps building and they have more nostalgia races in the future.

With those 4.62 rear gears and 29" tall rear tires that little slant motor must be zinging at the stripe. What RPM is it running at the line?

Hope to have the car out at the track for show and tell on the 16/17th for the ANRA second race. Theres a long, very boring medical story that I will talk to you about then.

She's turning about 5600/5700 in the traps on a 1/4, I shift at 5500. No problems in four years, the forged crank'll take that for the short durations of a drag race.

Here's a video I found of one of my qualifying runs (clipped from the "Primer Podcast" video of the meet).

Old6rodder,

That was a great vidy, I did see your run and your return road "permagrin" looks like you were having a wonderful time of it.
Looks like there was a very good turn out for that event, almost enough to make me pull up stakes and head west till my feet get wet and I can hear hot rods near by.
I'll watch this one over and over again with my morning coffee.

Thanks for posting it and keep that permagrin going, ya gotta love it!

Well Dick I almost hate to ask again as I missed the opener, but if you can please save me a spot at the end of your HAMBster compound for my truck & trailer so I can have the car out for show/tell this weekend. I normally get out to the staging area around 1 PM, but I will not be there until around 3 PM so it will take me a couple of hours to get in.

I have been having some extensive back pain the last few weeks and was not able to get the car race ready. I have had 10 tests done and we are still out on what is causing the problem. Will talk this weekend if I have no changes.

Really hope to make it, Thanks

No sweat, '28, I'll sit on three or four, as usual. I expect Joe'll be there, don't know 'bout Jeanna (I'll have to pop the Brick off to run Joe ). Gary & his Flathead Express should make it too, fresh from his class sweep at the new 'Dale.

No-one else's called or e-mailed me, so I'll likely just do three this time.

Thanks for holding a spot for this weekend.

Real nice picture of you and the "Brick" in the photo thread.

See you Friday.

Sounds good, see you then.

I finally got my computer back together, Mike stuffed my old hard drive into the new tower, and I have all my old files back. So, here's that picture of the Chaos club's modified roadster that I've been enamored of for so long. It's the catalyst behind the Brick, my tub version of this car.
