We've got a great sense of humor in the HAMB. And also great judgement-we just don't think you are funny. And, it's just not a smart idea to dismiss someone who most of us respect and have honored and been fans of for years.

Coming from a small town in Georgia, Linda Vaughn's first association with motorsports was her becoming Miss Atlanta Raceway in 1961.
GM noticed all the attention she was getting and made her Miss Pontiac in 1962.
She became Miss Pure FireBird in 1963 and carried that title through 1966 representing Pure at nearly all the NASCAR races.
She became “Miss Hurst Golden Shifter” beginning in 1966 and the rest is history!
She is seen below with Freddie Lorenzen.

Hold on,someone on the HAMB is a grown-up?! That'll get the thread closed for sure. I'm going to be 60 next week-still hoping I never grow up.

Here is a shot of Linda, Phil Bonner, my Dad, son and me at Atlanta in 2007. Pretty cool to have us all together with my car. Phil and Linda are good friends as she is a Georgia girl!! Phil helped get Linda involved with drag racing and Hurst.

I just got a scanner so I can now add this photo. My dad took this at Indy some time in the early 70's

Larry Shinoda told me that he and another guy found Linda at a store or shopping mall and invited her to a nascar race in Atlanta in 1961 and she impressed some folks and has been around since then. He told me the other guy's name but I have forgotten in the last 15 years but it was a name that was familiar to me. He claimed the he and this other dude Discovered her.

True Story as told to me personally by Larry.

She is a marvelous Lady and always seems to remember your name or something about you when she sees you.

Oh yeah, she still has it in my opinion!! It was nice seeing her at the auction, but did anyone see the Hurst Viper they had there? Suede gold and gloss black stripes.........If I had a chance to spend the day with either of them, that Viper would still be sitting in the lot!
