www.car-noir.com I met James Owens a while back...I could see the talent first and foremost. I was blown away. He was doing stuff that I have always been drawn to. I collect old movie posters - and at that time he had a series of original art based on images of vintage posters from the past. (as seen here: http://www.jamesowensstudio.com/DrDq_files/droppedImage.jpg) I never would have thought about getting an art show coordinated in Iowa at that time....but several years later this is exactly what we did. I asked Mr Owens if he could contribute and he agreed. Man was I stoked. Then the helmet came in the mail and I was REALLY blown away. It is hard to see the detail in the pictures - but you get the idea. His art is top notch and we could not be happier having him be a part of 2010 Vintage Torque Fest art show. We hope he will wanna help out again in 2011 - but the guy is SO busy these days - did you check out his painting a day sequence this past month? WOW.....I wish I could get that Nosferatu! Here is the link: http://www.jamesowensstudio.com/Painting_A_Day.html Well - I appreciate his effort and appreciate ya'll bidding on this one. THANKS INFO ABOUT THE AUCTION: Not sure the HAMB knows what we put together for the Vintage Torque Fest. Jimmy Flintstone contributed helmets to the art show and these were sent out to the artists that agreed to help out back in October. The artists were asked to contribute whatever concept they wanted to the helmets. Almost all of the artists have agreed to contribute the proceeds from the auction to www.helpinghannahsheart.org This is a medical expense trust set up to help pay the many medical expenses that have accumulated over the past 4 years. For those that dont know, our baby has had different procedures throughout her 4 year life including open heart surgery. She will have to have more open heart surgery again in about 5 years. The doctors have to be paid in order to keep on doing more surgery. I will get more details as people want to know them. Visit www.helpinghannahsheart.org for details on what she has gone through. These helmets are a direct cast off an original German M40 WWII helmet and will fit with the proper lining installed. These helmets are NOT DOT approved so dont think you can wear this out on the street with your motorcycle. These helmets cost $40 with nothing on them - just the normal resin. Add the cost of the time and energy and paint that was contributed by each artist and you see that the helmets SHOULD go for over $100. The helmets that were auctioned off at the show went for about $150 - $200. But we did not have enough time to auction off ALL the helmets....so Ryan has agreed to auction them here on the HAMB and he has been very gracious in stating that 100% of the proceeds will go directly to www.helpinghannahsheart.org Thanks for looking and we hope that you will continue to support the cause.
