Do I make it with my 59 f100?
![]() Dont know if it would be considered traditional, but soon as I pick up my carbs I'll be running a tri powered 292 y block, got a volare front clip in it, dash is smoothed out, most body seams filled, wide whites, caddy tailights, hood smoothed,a few other custom touches to grill and interior..gonna shave the door handles soon and hopefully get the rear straightened out, and get some paint the truck Last edited by Pipes; 08-06-2012 at 03:39 PM. |

Per request by Alex: Some actual photos of the 48.
As she sits right now and at Vintiques a few years ago. Yep she sits way too high in the ass end but there is only about 2 inches of clearance between the axle and the frame. The wheels are going and it will have wide whites and caps.

No pictures of the frame but here is the body and clip. Frame is at my friends place... Not using the 1 ton frame. I snagged a 1/2 ton frame while back.
It is a 1940 Chevy cab and '46 clip. I have '46 bed sides, looking for rear fenders still. Hook me up Alex.... Cheers.

Can an early 60's guy play too?! As you can see the ass needs to come down a lot more and there is just no room to bring it down. It's rolling on a dropped front axle with reverse eye leafs in the front and sitting on steel wheels that's about as traditional as they get! Thanks for doing all the cool giveaways even if I'm too new to make it in.

1952 ford notched mine but need a little more notch. Flipped axles, and would like to bag just the rear. Keeping firestone pie crust on it.

I am building a 51 studebaker with my dad. we just bagged the front of the frame using dominator 2600 bags on a chevy truck ifs. tho were are modifying the crap out of the suspension, the body will stay mostly stock. i've owned the truck for 16 years (im 24 now. lol) and we both got laid off this year so we are getting quite a bit done inspite of the wicked heat. its nice to get to work with him. two years ago he had a massive heart attack and i was scared i was gonna lose him. thanks for the consideration guys!
the snowy picture is one i took of my truck, the blue truck is one i found on the net that i keep for inspiration! |

I want in!!!
Here's my '46 Chevrolet 1/2 ton: It really needs an altitude adjustment out back! My plans are a circa '63 treatment....fully lowered, reversed steelies with bias plys (maybe WWW, maybe pins, maybe blackwalls), spider caps, '54 Chevy dash, '53 bumpers smoothed and filled with rear overider....I think you get the idea!!! It's down to bare frame now, so I'm sitting on ready for the kit! Thanks Mr.G!

Thanks for another give away! You guys ROCK!! I could and will use it on the 48 GMC pickup I'm doing. I'm doing old/new school build with a 235 six with dual carb/headers, HEI dist. hooked up to adapter plate with a 2004r overdrive trans, 3" dropped axle, disc brakes, with power steering conversion, power brakes, new lower rear springs and a S10 rear axle, Buick Riv. Wheels with spinners and narrow white walls. The gray motor is being used for mockup the red motor is going in the truck!. I'm working on boxing the frame and a notch kit would help do it correct. Please enter me!. Thanks Mel

Here is our 51 F1 shop build. Its currently apart as we have begun chassis fab. Plans call for a custom chassis, bagged, new drive train (not a 350) and some custom touches to the sheet metal.

Thanks again Alex.. and you got me motivated to finally get around to re-up my alliance membership again! Just a quick question though.. I tried to hit your store on the site because Im going to need a notch kit reguardless of the contest..and wanna see if you guys have anything else like bag kits or other things for my truck, but didnt see any parts. Do you have a seperate site or something? I need to get the back end of this truck fix so it can run down the road!

here is my 53 3100 it needs to lose some altitude to gain a little more attitude. I already have a dropped front axle and some other goodies but all for the front. The rear needs some love. thanks

I did not post a description of my truck above it is a 1946 Studebaker M5. It has an Air Ride system installed at all four corners but it has no knotch kit in the rear so it still sits to high. I was hoping my running boards would lay parallel to the ground and sit real close but it does not in it's current configuration. When I am finished I hope to have a mild custom version of these cool old trucks. Thanks again Alex.

Here's a thread on my 53. Thanks Alex! The rear is mighty close to the frame now. The notch would give some much needed clearance.

This is my 57' short wide box big window. I am running the original 292 3 speed OD. I have got my dropped axle and disc brakes in front. Next on the list will be lowering the rear, so I could really use the frame notch kit.
My plans are body work, suede paint and some traditional wheels, wide whites and styling. [IMG] ![]() upload photo[/IMG] |

How about this mess? flipped the axle to drop the ass. 1953 Ford F100, found as a lost project next to the railroad tracks, where the previous owner decided to chop the top and probably realized he got over his head. So I took it over and started by bringing the altitude down. Guess I can't call it a mild custom with the chop....

Heres mine. 1956 GMC, this picture is after new subframe and wheels. the rear is a 12 bolt that has been flipped and has a new lowering spring kit with 1" blocks, The box floor is cut out and the frame is about 2.5" from the rear end! I could really use the notch. Benn working on the body and it looks a bit different now though.

Here is my 58 that needs some help.
Needs to be set down 5-6" all the way around. (after taken off the stands) ![]() Plans are for a 500ci Cad motor, recess and angle the push bumper, shave the drip rails & lead in all the factory seams, 48 Buick tail lights (if I can find them), tuck & rolled bench seat, short lakes dumping at front fender and a few other small mods from stock. Satin (unknown) color on the bottom with a gloss off white top & firewall. |

My 46 Stude It's going to have fenders on it I just have the bed off while we put the fuel tank (took the tank out of an old speed boat we found at a yard) in and finish up the wiring? You can see the tiny c they took out of the frame at the back it just aint as low as I wanted could really benifit from your kit!

this is a 51 ford truck im getting in on trade for doing work on this mustang. the work i did to the mustang was way more than first talked about, just repaint from blue back to blue. after taking the car apart we did rear quarters ,new fenders, hood, trunk ,door skins ,front frame rails, fender aprons, rear frame rails then paint it black. the truck was a present from his wife 15 years ago for his 40th birthday. he took it apart and never did anything with it. my plan is to take it and do what he wanted to do with it and give him the oppertunity to get it back the way he imagined. those are his grandkids in the picture. the plans for the truck is full airide mustang ii front , 4 link rear, dark emrald grenn paint, grey leather interior. thanks jones

I know you said 40's and 50's so I might be too early but thought I would throw my hat in the ring just in case. It's a truck and it's going to be a custom.
1937 Chevy chopped, '40 Chev headlights molded into fenders, custom grill, custom hood sides, Mustang II (I know I know )and triangulated 4 link, wide whites, '53 studebaker hubcaps.![]() ![]() ![]() If it is too early I can take it down.

I saved this from the scrapper last week! I know it's not exactly a truck per say, but it is on a truck frame. I'd love to put it on it's knees.

Wish this was open up to the HAMB cutoff. My 63 F100 could sure use a notch to help get her lower.

Mr. G
My description was to show how I was leaning more toward the mild traditional custom over pure hot rod. If it helps, the paint plan (at least right now) is satin black with gold scallops and white pinstriping, and a white/gold bench seat with a gold dash and gold glitter Superior wheel. I respect your final ruling, just wanted to try to clarify..... Quote:

Here's a front view of my 1959 GMC Swb fleetside 100. I'm currently grafting a 76 camaro subframe. After that we are putting the trailing arm/coil setup out of a '71 C10 with a 73 Nova 8.5 inch rear end. Ol' trucksy is gonna need a notch.... Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad |
