I walked by my pile of parts today and took a few moments to make those same kind of noises......LOL

Well today was teardown day, got part of the way today and will get the rest done tomorrow.
A big pile of bagged and tagged parts and a pile of parts for chroming.
The whole exhaust system will be ceramic coated.
Welding ,painting bodywork and more painting to follow. :)

Yep,you did. I have advertised them and a new set of American Racing salt flats with knockoff style spinners.
If they sell I'll be getting some 16 " wheels and Excellsiors like Eric went with.

It's been a while but the welding is done on the frame and the body too.
I boxed up all the parts after hours of prep and shipped them off to the chrome shop. Ogden Chrome in Utah.
    A 67 pound box  :D
Have some prep to do on the exhaust and it's off to the coater for a shiny silver thermal ceramic coating, the entire exhaust, headers, Porter mufflers and all will be done end to end inside and out.
Will be having the body and frame blasted and will start preparing for paint soon.:)
Then it's build the paint booth in the garage and have at it :)
    A step at a time :)
It's going to be a happy new year ;)

  20. Getting closer!
Who are you using to coat your headers? I want to get mine done as well.

Yes, it's exciting even though there is a pile of work to do yet.
I'm having the headers and exhaust coated at Impact coatings right here in Edmonton.
    They do very nice work.

  22. Thanks I have seen them at a number of car shows over the years good to know.

Went out to the garage today to look at some detail work on the exhaust system and headers, prepping them to go to the coater.
I started looking at the pipe I built for the drivers side that drops off the header and through the frame to the muffler.
Holding that piece of pipe in my hands I was examining the section after it passes through the frame and runs to the Porter muffler.
 Cripes I thought, how the hell did this pipe end up so crooked, like a dogs back leg.
Well, the answer is, I built the exhaust with the body in place so couldn't see well enough to get it right.

So, out came the hoist and the mockup engine was bolted back in place with the header and I rebuilt that section of pipe, all is well now and it fits and looks nice. And it's straight like it should be ;) :D
Moving on I can pull the mockup engine again and get the headers and pipes ready for the ceramic.... whew :D
    Isn't this fun :D:D

One step forward and two steps back :D
I decided to scrap the headers as they just didn't turn out as nice as I wanted them to for a couple of reasons.
First of which was a cheap junk Chinese steel header kit
I should have known better but it's pretty much impossible to make that stuff thicker :D

So I'm going to order a new set of driveshaft lakes headers from Matt at Gear Drive.

Then I put the body on the frame to measure for the headers.
I now have to fit the doors all over again as I finished the welding on the bottom of the body and naturally now the doors don't fit
Gotta love these old T Bodies.

Oh well it just means some more time getting it all straightened out.

Before all of that I set up a little garage engineering project with a laser to see if my engine and transmission were properly placed in the frame.

That worked out really well. I was off 1/8 of an inch on the tail shaft.
Not bad for having used tape measures and string lines :D
    That was easy to fix.

By the way that one photo looks a little cockeyed, that's just me, everything was straight and level :)
Maybe now I can make a few more steps forward :D

Good idea on the laser. Maybe many (most?) of you do this, but I've never seen it or heard of it. I'll be keeping that in mind when I build the '26 modified on '32 rails.

b-t-w; I've been watching this since the very first post. Well done, amigo.

Well, my parts are now at Ogden Chrome and I have my final price tally .
Not as high as it might have been, but in spite of my best efforts they will have a considerable amount of work to do to get the show chrome quality I want and that they want to supply.
Looking forward to the time when I get shiny stuff back

On another note, Matt at gear drive is going to be fabricating my new driveshaft lakes headers soon.
He's a great guy to deal with and talk to.
Looking forward to getting the exhaust wrapped up and out to ceramic coating.
Tons of bodywork to come next, anyone know a starving Alberta body man who does good work and works for peanuts ? :D:D
I'll probably end up doing it all, hope I'm up to the task :D ( I work for myself for free :D)
