Hot Rods Another Deuce Five Window Gets my Attention

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by ct1932ford, Nov 1, 2023.

  1. Sold one 5 window coupe awhile back and purchased this one shortly after. Going to give it a Hot Rod treatment. The Fenders, Running Boards, Aprons and Bumpers were the first to go. Rumble seat and deck went next. Stock Hood gone!
Many other modifications happening. This should keep me busy this Winter.
    Some Photos: IMG_5271.jpg Fenders gone!
    IMG_5267.JPG Next to go.
IMG_5278.JPG Stock hood gone and Mirror on door gone, filled holes and repaired dented area under mirror mount. Also clock mirror gone.
IMG_5396.JPG Prepping trunk ! For new Louvered lid.
    IMG_5472.JPG
IMG_5397 - Copy.JPG New hood tops! 25 Louver sides next.
IMG_5416 - Copy.JPG Doors off and totally rebuilt inside , latches, window risers, channels , felt, rubber, you name it. Doors were a mess inside. Not Now!
    Well, you get the picture.
I will post more here as I go. Thanks for stopping by!

There you go again, screwing up another old car. Good for you!

  7. That one came from my back yard...obviously ventured all the way from the west coast to the east. It was a nice looking car to begin with...no doubt going to be nicer after it's been "rubbed on" a bit further!

It's good I can't afford every car that gets my attention!

Hey Mark, I've got a very nice 4 1/2" dropped 32 axle that would be just right in the front of your new coupe.

Oh, and if you've just finished the doors on your coupe you could pop over here and help me do the ones on my 5 window.

  15. Finished the trunk conversion today. It ain’t easy dealing with a 90 plus year old car and reproduction parts. Had to ad a piece of material to the bottom of the hinge brackets in order to have pins come out straight. I must have had the deck lid in and out a dozen times. FWIW, back when I did my trunk, the repo hinge parts were so “needy” I ended up making my own.

Just like an Airplane, no two alike, .020" shim here, .050" shim there and presto good to go...I guess if you were going in reverse there could have been similar issues at the bottom end...

  22. Not totally sure yet. I only drove it a short distance. Ran very nice. There are some leaks I see, but have not gone after them yet. Last owner said transmission was noisy, however did not seem that way to me. I'm in no great rush to finish. I bought it so I would have a project to work on. My roadster is all finished now, so the coupe will fill my time over the winter.

Your having fun and living life to the fullest...this one's a nice one too. I can't wait to see your vision this time around...I know the chop is a huge decision and I know you like chops but I'm okay either way. They did run them both ways...there's pics.

Great looking car, glad you cleaned out all the signs to make room for it.

  27. What color is this car? It almost looks like a really dark green.

Edit: sorry, scrolled down a bit more and I can see this is obviously green. Reminds me of the Lew Thompson coupe but a bit darker, looks excellent.

I just used a tanks 14 gallon tank under my new highboy sedan and I had my body shop rework the optional triangular end braces and attach them so my tank looks stock. Also have an Anson dropped heavy that he thought was NOS it was so nice.
