wow thats not good news.., I hope everything works out for the best. Im not big on the type of person i feel he has become, but i dont know him personally, so I can only go by what ive seen on TV and i wasnt amused. Any way, My prayers go out to him and his family, He deserves it.

I wasn't too happy with the Coddington media circus at speedweek and voiced my opinion. But I've got to say that at the world finals, Boyd, Jo, and son Tom made up for it in spades. We sat on the tailgate of my truck and had a nice conversation. They're down to earth hotrodders like the rest of us. It was a real pleasure to meet them.

My prayers go out to the entire family and crew.

    Tom

Well, his style always seemed too futuristic for hot rodding, but I would be lying if I said I didn't admire his skill as a designer/builder. He and Lil John, among others, took hot rodding and then street rodding to whole new levels. There are a lot of guys who were into Camaros and Firebirds during the 90's, but saw his work and got into hot rodding. A while back, I took it as an insult that the big ass secretary accross the street said my car "looked like one of those Codington things that are on cable". I should have been honored to have my name in the same sentence.

He and his family will be in my thoughts.

  6. This is sad and I hope he pulls through.

I've read a lot of crap about Boyd on this board, some of it deserved, some not. Every time I hear somebody griping bout him or his influence on the hobby I can't help thinking, "what if there never was a Boyd?" I'll bet even our little corner of the automobile hobby would be very different. Like it or not we owe the man some respect for doing his part to bring street rodding into the main stream. Which is better for us as a whole, for the general public to have a preconceived notion of a hot rodder as a greasy guy in a leather jacket looking for trouble or as a middle aged bearded guy in Hawaiian print shirt yelling at his subordinates?

Sucks to read this..... I wish him the best and a speedy recovery.

With as much BS as his show produced, I did watch it. In fact the wife & I made it a Friday night ritual to watch it together.
And The show is credited with her getting the urge to get a car of her own instead of driving mine(not that I have a problem with her driving my cars!)
The show also gave her a better understanding what I do to pay the bills.(without all the drama & firing of people)

The PR-usa link says tomorrows date... which is odd. So, JimA, what's the word... there's not much news about his recent health online and those articles don't say anything that leads to it being serious (as-in he's not going to recover).

As I sit here reading these posts I must say it is heart warming to see such nice thoughts going out to Boyd he definitely needs all out prayers and good thoughts at this time.
He has always been a special person to me and my family, and it breaks our hearts to know he is so ill right now.
He is a true legend in the Hot Rod world sure, but he is also a Husband, Father and grandfather. And that is what matters.

If anyone has the will to fight and beat the odds its Boyd

All the nay saying and the somewhat recent fauxpa at Bonneville...I think of it this way...hate the sin not the sinner. I am not a fan of his recent cars and I can say I wish I had one to sell to build what I wanted but to no avail. To Boyd and his family all my best and a prayer being sent. He is an Icon in the hot rodding world and he deserves respect one way or the other. I feel for his family and his friends. God Bless Boyd!

It's definitely sad to hear of an "icon" not doing well. Praying for the best for Boyd, Lil John and the families.

The great thing about style is the difference. Just like people are never the same, style and taste differentiate as well. If that weren't the case, we'd all be driving Ford Escorts around. May not be my cup of tea, but they at least stirred it a little.

    GOD BLESS.

    This is sad news… indeed,

I've joked about him with the best… or worst… of them… And it's not like I haven’t opened myself up to be the but of jokes too! If you do or say anything, in front of anyone, someone will find humor in it… or worse!

But in a time like this the gloves come off! I wish him and his family all the best that one could hope for in a bind like this.

And also for Lil' John & family as well.

Truth is… I always respected both of them, as craftsmen… just never have had the money to build a car at the level of craftsmanship that had the resources to accomplish… so I personally identify more w/the home built crowd. But that’s really nothing against them.

My thoughts are with both of them & theirs!

Thoughts and prayers for Boyd and for Lil John. Both are people of immense influence who have moved the hobby in their own ways, something that can be said of very few. More importantly they are very important to those closest to them. Here's hoping for the improved health of both.

prayer and thoughts go out to Boyd and his family. I hate to see any one in bad health. I also sending prayers out to Lil John and his family

  27. Winning more AMBR`s than anyone else proves that he is not only an icon to this hobby but a stylist with vision that some of us never saw.Being the recipeint of a Boyd Coddington Pro Pick in Phoenix last year and having him select a traditional style Kustom proved to me that he still has it in him.Although we never spoke 2 words in AZ. I`m honored to have his plaque and his jacket. You can`t kill a weed and I`m hoping that this is the case here.
The past does not equal the future.............Prayers at this point is the best medicine...........I hope he tunes in to the HAMB nation for inspiration..TBJ

  28. Hope he gets back to what he loves............ Building Hotrods!!!!!!

  29. my prayers are with you Boyd and your family.
