I also thought of using cut down leather dog leashes. The snappy clasp things on the ends wouldn't come undone.

Spoken EXACTLY like I would, ha ha!.

I also wonder about finding a purse or ladies belt at somewhere cheaper like Marshall's that I could canablize. That would have to be a lot cheaper than finding a bonafide leather specialist to make them up.

I used stainless chains and covered 'em with clear vinyl tubing on my Diamond T, that'd kinda go with your beautiful tailgate hinges. Inspiring build and thread, BTW...

Aforementioned stainless chains and clear tubing. Worked for me.

Some "master hot rod builder" cut the latches out of my cab sometime before I got it. Boo!

But with some nice heavy duty latches out of a freight truck I am well on my way to fixing it up. Still needs plated in and body worked but even just tacked in the doors close wicked and I won't have to worry about my kids falling out.

  13. Glad it worked out for you. Your rig looks awesome.

Ya been busy. Moved to a new house. Bought a new daily driver Tacoma and building it into an expo rig/camping truck. Dealing with mega snow.

But the weather is warming and I will be back on the truck soon.

IMG_1679.JPG A lame update but an update non the less.
Rear shocks and u bolt plates fitted and attached. Little more angle on the bushings than I would like but it all seems to bounce up and down nicely.

I have really thought hard about doing this exact same thing with my 1938 201. LOL

^ I stuck a heli coil in it. It is low pressure and seals with a gasket on the face so it should be fine. If not I will keep looking for more matching carb cores.

Or toss them both in the ditch and run some forklift carbs.

Built rear driveshaft today and got the passenger door finish welded and in the first skim of filler. All that nice shiny stuff is lead. Gotta love old hot rods.
