No sweat, he's old enough that his memory's so short he's likely already forgotten. Racer, this weekend'll make up for a little of that as the March Meet gets rained on.
Yeah, it's "in the mail". The block's still at the machine shop (oh, would that I had my own mill and boring bar). The decking's done, and the poking's scheduled for this week. Everything else's here and waiting. I'd hoped to make the March meet, along with Joe and Jeana, but 'twas not to be. Now hoping to make Butch's ANRA Opener, and will move heaven, hell, earth, moon, and anything else that gets in my way, for Eagle Field. Hope to have a surprise to show off as well.
Not trying to. Street outlaws we`re not. Just having fun with a little competition on the side. Me being not legal means I run et slicks and have a trans brake which gives me a better 60 ft if I don`t use it.
Hot Rod Class is correct. All the HA/GR and SDRA car run Hot Rod Class at the March Meet & the CA Hot Rod Reunion as there is no open wheel class like they run at ANRA races.
Hhhmm,I may have to look into that for next year if that is the case. Normally Hot Rod I think requires fenders for the Heritage series.
There's no other class to put them in so I guess they make an exception. I've seen a couple gassers without front fenders too.
The March Meet & CHRR use the NHRA Heritage Series format and there is no Open Wheel class (dial your ET) so they let HA/GR, SDRA & a few other cars run in Hot Rod Class. Any other open wheel cars have to fall into NE 1,2,3 ( 9.99 or quicker) group. A lot has to do with the early style frames, body, motors of the HA/GR & SDRA and how they showcase the early days of drag racing. Lots of fun seeing them racing a wide variety of cars in that class. As far as I know this is for the March Meet & CHRR only.
OK, Kiddies. The 'Brick's ready for Butch's ANRA Opener this weekend. I finally finished up the fresh block, tucked in the new cam, added some more lightness, shortened the wheelbase, and did a few other small upgrades. She's now at NHRA's 92" minimum, and "just cute as a button". Hauling'er up to Scholl Canyon Dump this week, for a weigh-in for the season. Also added a seriously cool Eagle Field Drags plaque topper (just not over the plaque). Anyway, here's the latest look ......
now that, that, is as cute as a button, love it. Have a great time this weekend, and look forward to hearing about how it handles the 'trim'. Cheers, Drewfus
Keeps getting gooder and gooder and lighter and quicker. Looking forward to seeing the numbers ya post after ANRA.
Wow! I thought we drilled a lot of holes in our frame but you got MOORE. If I could just talk you into a glide bet it would pick up half a second or more. Love your car Mr. Old6
Thank you, Gentlemen. Mr. Mac ...... nah, if I went that route I'd go with a 904. Lighter & stronger in stock form, far cheaper, not hard to shorten, bolts right up, and fair game by the year.
Back from Scholl Canyon Dump, and scored 1260 on the scale. Off to Bako tomorrow, with no idea in hell what the car'll be running now. Likely out in first round, with a mistaken dial-in. Pics & vids promised.
It will be interesting how you go. I know yours is a different configuration but I had to extend mine to 113" wheelbase to get more traction to the rear wheels. Have fun.
spanners, I have heard that when HAMBsterLady asked Old6rodder if he thought shortening the wheelbase would make the car more squirrelly his reply was "I hope so". I believe he thinks like I do that it's not how fast you go, it's how you go fast. We're both long time fans of altereds and everyone knows if an altered launches straight something is probably wrong with the run. Much more fun to have to drive it a bit than to just sit there and go along for the ride.
Old6, Good luck this weekend!Keep us posted on the Bricks progress weekend will have to try and catch some of the action on the live feed.
BEST OF LUCK OLD6 for a speedy & safe race weekend. I know you are already at Famosa for setup and the BQ Saturday night. Way to go on the new weight, she is getting lighter month after month. Will be looking for those new time slips. Your hot rod with a slush box, not going to happen.
thanks for the updates.... I was wondering about a few folks on here. The crickets were runnin loose. LOL
congrats on what I believe to be your first 12 sec timeslip. can`t see what`s going on today , no live feed
Well?? ANRA is over, we need a report and some numbers. How did it run? Straight and true, or did you have fun?
Great pics of the "short car" here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...g-racing-at-famoso-raceway-4-23-2016.1017140/
