I would like to say first that I did search and I did find a few threads, BUT most of the pics were gone and the ones that did have pics there really weren't a lot to see. I even searched the regular old inter net. So with that said, I'm wanting to make my own gas pedal and I want to see what you guys did and maybe get some ideas for mine. Let's see some pic's of your homemade gas pedal, please.
I don't have a pix but I have good luck using early ford pedals , my last one came from a mid sixties T-Bird with stainless trim , what is nice about these is they bolt flat to the firewall with two bolts and you can use a cheap after market throttle cable you cut to fit, these make a clean install and they are comfortable on your foot during long drives , you do plan to drive the shit out of your rod ? Right ? Edsel
Here is one I just made out of 5/16 bar stock and a couple of hiems, Oh yea, and a base drum pedal Here it is with the interior mocked up.
heres my pedal, its rude and crude, but it works like the wind , when I punch it to the floor old lady's cover there ears and run like hell, rubber and smoke fly all over the place.and for some strange reason I get this uncontrolable shit eating grin on my face
Kind of different. Mounts on outside of the firewall with return spring running vertically and a rod to the carb. The large end is a mount for one of the switches to control the Switch Pitch. Made out of bits and pieces of the original from the engine donor.
No pictures but I was experimenting with a straight rod through the firewall to a bell crank that attached to the the carb. The rod was spring loaded with just a flat button spoon type end on it. It would have been great in the tight confines of my T but the rod was to far to the left near the steering column to work out.
Here is a pretty simple little pedal. Some round rod, a piece of square tube to cut the bracket from, a piece of tube for the trunion, and a bit of plate for the spoon.
Kiwi Kev, do you have a close up of the pivot from the top point of view? I hand to see how you have it all bolted together. It's cool looking.
Theres a real easy way to make the pivot for your linkage. Unspoke the hub out of a front bicycle wheel and weld some arms to the spoke flanges. Its smooth as hell cause it's all ball bearings.
Works good..for the flathead..the part where it connects to carb has to be bent around where it will pull instead of push..use a lengthened Model A throttle rod on flathead..
