  13. Thanks! It hung out the back about 3'. We flipped up the tailgate and the frame rested on its top edge.

BTW, the color was decided back in 2006:

  21. Thanks for the kudos, guys. :)

It's stock '69 C*m*ro Hugger Orange, code 72. Pontiac used the same code, but called it Carousel Red.

  22. WOW!!!.Love it Gary. Perfect color.

I also tapped down a few bare metal highs and spread a thin schmear of epoxy glaze in the remaining lows.

BTW, black guidecoat mixed with sanding dust is like talcum powder; it gets everywhere.

It is a sign of intelligence to have longer toes on your right foot than the left. Working barefooted sort of negates that premise, however.

A favorite color ever since I first saw The Orange Crate!! Please cover your feet before you paint the color coat, pretty sure the Wife will appreciate That.

Nice progress! That powder guidecoat is the bomb. I discovered that and 20' rolls of PSA blocking sandpaper at the same time.

  29. I scuffed and masked the interior and undercarriage....

...and jacked up the body to access the sub- and cross-rail bottoms.
    20231009_105737.jpg

Then I squirted on some TAMCO matte black single-stage urethane.
It's mixed 4:1 plus ~5% reducer and sprayed through a 1.4 mm tip at 28 psi, per the TDS, and (what I thought was) 50% overlap.
Two coats didn't cover the white primer very well.
Maybe gun pressure? Or fluid setting? Or too thin? Or a combination?
    20231009_144304.jpg

Anyway, I snuck out of work early today, re-masked, mixed, and sprayed another coat; this time unreduced, which covered much better. :)

The satin finish should contrast nicely with the sparkly stuff.

Now for some final sanding then off to Roy for paint!
