  1. So do you guys ever get tired of old cars?? Set the timing this morning, figured I'd check fluids before I backed it out. 20240409_110725.jpg 20240409_110748.jpg

Green milkshakes are only for St. Patti's day. You'll need to fix that.
I feel you pain as I think most of us have been there before.

  3. Oh, shit!
*I'm not gonna ''like'' that pic.

Ever since my first car. But I’m a sucker.

What hurts isn’t that it blew up. It’s not making the event.

  12. Well, the trans cooler is separate, and the oil in the engine is clean and full. No clue what it is/was. I flushed the cooling system probably 5 times. Did a pressure test and it held 17lbs for a while, got tired of standing there. Drove the truck up and down the road, and everything looks pretty good. Wish I could say what it was, but I can't. Unless the block is cracked, but then again, the oil in the pan is full and clean. So there you go!

  13. Dang, Bro!
The Flying, Fickle Finger of Fate can be an S.O.B.
    I hope it's just a gasket.

practical joker poured oil in the radiator?

  16. That's about the only thing it could be right? But the oil level is dead on full and clear. No water in the oil, no oil missing. The bottom radiator hose was off of it all fall and winter. I'm gonna run it and see if it comes back. Like I said, it pressure tested good on the coolant side.

  17. Never know!

  18. Hopefully it doesn’t reappear! Truck looks great.

  19. I'll drive it some, see what happens, give myself enough time to build an engine if need be

  20. Since the oil is in the radiator and the engine oil is clean, oil pressure is higher than coolant pressure. Other than some kind of goofy internal crack, I cannot think of where oil and coolant would meet on a Small Block. If it were a diesel, I would say the engine oil cooler is cracked, but, it ain’t a diesel. You also mentioned the transmission cooler is separate from the radiator, so that rules that out. There is no pressurized oil in a small block cylinder head, so even a cracked head would not cause this. Sorry for the long winded post, I was thinking out loud. Some goofy internal crack is all I can think of. Please keep us updated. Was the radiator ever used on something else?

  22. Excellent point Bill!! I forgot about that stuff. That’s a great possibility.

  23. No it's only been in this truck

  24. It's not had antifreeze in it Bill, I pulled the bottom radiator hose off last fall, before Lloydfest.

Flush it with clr. Fill with water and drive it. See what happens. Worse case it is a crack in block.
A little time to flush and make sure couldn't hurt.
It's not dead till it is. Good luck. JELMCL-12.jpg

  26. After you pulled the bottom hose off, did you remove the drain plugs in each side of the block, in the center, just above the oil pan raìl?
I hope all works out for you.
