My Wayne pump is from 1941 and has not been repainted which says a lot for a pump that sat outside in Idaho all of those years/Thanks....

With the size & brightness of led's, I think a person could install some inside the top of your rear garnish mlds and modify the mlds so they extend down a little bit. Leave a small gap or cut a slot in them to allow the light to be seen out the back window. Would be virtually invisible when the light is not on. Just a thought.

I have a pedestal mount led light that is mounted at the base of the back window. Mine also has the turn signal function. This seems to be mounted high enough to be seen easily, not sure if anyone pays attention to it anyway. My taillights are also led, but the way they are mounted at an angle and the fact that led light needs to be seen in a straight line are the only thing I see wrong with the led taillights.

  11. Ron Francis sells stick on LED third brake lights. With the stick on you do not get the red glow distracting you in the rear view mirror, this is how new cars are, sealed to the glass. They sell various lengths and angles of attachment. Summit even carries them. You can get two short ones for either side of the split 40 window and set them us a turn signals too. They also have one for curved glass. Only bad remark I have heard is that the sticky tape lets loose after a while.

Tony, hope you don't mind but I saw these pictures on your thread and just had to show them someone else. Just a drop dead gorgeous car. All involved in the design and construction of this car should be very proud! I am sure there will be a lot professional grade phot0s of this car in the future but these will do for today.

Of course I don't mind -- I'm flattered. Thanks for the compliment. Thanks also to Don Dillard and Sid Chavers, who made real what I had imagined.

He's been wanting to use a '40 hood, but I think I may have talked him into keeping the '41 on it. Lots of body work still to do, but we were mocking stuff up to check fits, etc.

  17. I raced this guy all the way to work this morning. There was some give and take the whole trip, but I beat him in the end. 20170320_075820.jpg

I didn't realize we had strayed from '40 Fords, or working on them. Care to elaborate?

It was beginning to look like a 3rd brake light post. I agree that making lights more visible for our car and our health is important, however that fits all rods not just 40 Fords, this is or was about 40 Fords....

^^^^^^^^^^^Exactly, and except for mentioning that I have another car with a louvered deck lid with LEDs in the louvers, but didn't want to ,louver my '40 deck lid, all the rest of this subject has been about LEDs for '40 Fords and the split rear window therein:)
