Great looking car... There is a social group here that caters to 52-59 Fords that can offer a lot of help & knowledge with getting the car on the road. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/social-forums/1952-59-ford-social-group.282/ There is also the '54 Ford Club of America.. HRP http://www.1954ford.com/
The '54 was the first Ford with ball joint suspension, and the familiar dropped tube crossmember that mounted engine and lower control arms. Any OHV FMC engine is practically a bolt-in, (interchangability of mounts) and the F-E installation with Cruiso or standard transmission falls onto the tranny mount by reversing it. Woodward Blvd. saw the new F-E engine installed in a '54 Tudor, (Ford engineers tested the new prototype engine in late 1953) I had an article, wish I could read it again. The prototype engine was a 332" Police Interceptor, high compression, mechanical lifters, adjustable rockers, Holley 4 bbl. High H.P., but the main thing was its front mounted distributor, and the package was a Bolt-In! Needless to say, I was to own a flock of '54 Ford Coupes! I also have one now...
1 time,i'm dropped with 4 pouces block the rear and aerostar coils for the front Nosed, decked, frenched the taillight with '54 olds taillight
That is looking very nice. I have 53 Courier(sedan delivery) in similar colors. Lighter color on top, darker on bottom. What power train is in yours? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
My engine is just a 223 ci 6cylinders I'm rebuilt this engine All the parts is new, but this weekend I re - defuses(unsettles) because I have an oil leak at the level (rear main seal)
Great progress! Rear seal leaks seam to happen. It takes a little work to fix them sometimes. If your seal is the rubber type, be sure the lip is facing inward. If it is a rope seal, soak the rope for a few days in motor oil before you put it in. If you put a PCV from a newer car on your new engine, it will stay cleaner inside and should leak less. Be sure the oil fill cap is vented with filter media.
