Measure the distance between the centers of the frame rails.

Take that measurement to the local self service yard.

Universal end links are easy. Tabs are easy to make.

I've looked it over for awhile now and have half a clue, just wondering what others have used.
I've done the yard thing several times and nothing. Most were too wide and shaped wrong, or the narrow ones were too small in diameter and short.
Just something that's been on my mind, as it's one of the last things I wanted to do to finish this heap.
    Jailbar...yeah, I know.
Just typing out loud I guess...hoping someone would pop in to tell me how they did it, so I don't have to think:rolleyes:

    What's the frame rail spacing?

  5. If your pickup is oversteering on turns swinging the back end out even to the point of spinning out, then yes, add more front bar.
There are aftermarket companies that make and sell various width setups that are fairly generic and fit a lot of applications. They're not as cheap as a junkyard but at least you should have choices.
Keep the end links as close to straight up and down as possible.

I checked Weedetr and didn't see anything listed for the jailbar.
    Frame is 29", center.
I'd like more stability...little divey in the front, even with new springs/shocks, etc.. Back is good and has no problems.
Might be possible to fab in a setup for an AD pickup...goodies galore for them...no love for the jailbar.

If you can handle doing some fit work and can't find a bolt-on, look at circle track parts, not street rod stuff. It's designed to take abuse, fit or have options to fit wider applications, and is often priced better.

I had a ‘48 F1 stripped down to the bare frame. Sure looked like the one under my ‘42. Only difference I could tell between them was cross steer vs side steer.
What I’m thinking is the F1 (if it’s made) may work

  12. I have what looks like a newer kit on a 47 ford sedan delivery frame, let me know if you want a picture. I am assuming jailbar is ford, not sure if pickup and SD are the same frame.

The pickup and sedan delivery use different frames.
