They sure jumped ahead with the 1955 & 1956 models -- both style and engineering.

Let me know if you need any help with parts or information, my dad was collecting parts for those before the internet, so I got a bunch squirreled away on shelves without a car to put it on. I'll hook you up man.

Got the engine compartment cleaned up and it looks like the previous owner may have painted it Hemi orange. The previous owner stopped by the shop and gave me the keys which helps so that I don't have to pull the Ignition switch. a16646d2-ab1c-4cbb-9843-3d0b3471e6aa.jpg 20240318_155041.jpg 20240318_155048.jpg The starter Solenoid is junk but I bypassed it and sanded the points and got it to spin over pretty good and got spark, Changed the oil and filter also. Perhaps.
Tomorrow it will bark too life

That's a great find! Another one saved from the graveyard and given a second chance. If it was me I’d be on the lookout for a 354 hemi and a set of Cragars. Have fun!

Does that generator have a oil cup? Make sure it and anything else that is going to come alive has lube if needed (trans?).

I've got a soft spot for those MoPars; Mom had a '55 2dr. when I was a lil' shaver... Later on, around '68, I bought a '56 2 dr from an ol' guy who needed money for a screen door. Paid him $20.00 & off I went. Me & 3 of my buddys scraped together $80.00 between us and hit Rte. 66 to California. Made it too!
Alex Taylor has a sweet '55...

It's alive!!! And running smooth as silk. Filled the carb with gas and put the other end of the fuel pump into a bucket full of gas. And after adjusting the points and cranking for a while. I got it to fire and idle no problem. After about 10 minutes the top end finally got quiet and I let it run for about 30 minutes while checking fluids and making sure the transmission worked, which it does. Adjusted the Voltage regulator and got it charging properly. I guess I need to drop the gas tank and get some brake 6b4c7721-44e0-4f65-bf08-b305b1878cee.jpg s working. And being that I'm keeping everything 6 V.For now all the gauges work!

Well, I owe it to the previous owner that really took care of the car.

  18. Nice engine paint... behold the wonder of a Craigslist rebuild... really nice to hear these relics come back to life again. I have my eye on a '56 Dodge that I hope will be up for sale locally.

As far as the engine paint goes, the previous owner actually pulled the whole motor out just to pull the heads off and get hardened valve Seats put in, then repainted and all gaskets replaced

awesome, do yourself a favor and get rid of that fuel filter asap, those are responsible for many a car fire. vibrations can make them unscrew and spray gasoline on the hot engine parts.....

For sure. Mark, it was on the car and I wanted a filter just to run it. But I was all out of 5/16th filters on the shelf. Gonna order a few filters this morning and I will definitely redo all the fuel lines on the car. Maybe this weekend with the brakes.

Add me to the list of guys that think that one is cool.
The 6 volt battery positive ground system would have to go though.

Great! I had a 55 Dodge (with the 270 hemi) that served as my DD until I pulled the engine to put in my T Bucket. I also liked the shift lever on the dash!

Nothing wrong w/ 6-volt positive ground, if it's in good condition. One must realize that some maintenance and observance is always needed, but a true mechanic doesn't mind for the most part.
With fresh brakes and a clean fuel system that ol' beast will give you excellent service for a long time... Looking forward to seeing on the road again!

    Most impressive indeed!
No doubt about it, that cool old KICK ASS MOPAR, is endowed with a magical mechanical spirit, that refused to die!
    A true determined survivor!
