Just drove this thing about 15 miles and got it up to about 70 cruising, and it drives like a dream but all 4 shocks are completely blown out. So it's all over the place, so I'm gonna try and get some shocks today. If not, I'll drive it home either way. Also my custom cardboard and moving blanket rear seat. 20240426_151112.jpg 20240426_145338.jpg

Didn’t someone on engine masters build a poly that would kick ass and take names? I had a 55 Windsor. 301 poly but we found out that the 331 hemi heads will physically bolt on along with all the speed goodies. I also had a 241 and a 270 dodge hemi. Both went to a fellow at B ville for the salt. He traded me a 331 hemi complete for the pair.
I am with the wash it /get it mechanical and ride the xxxx out of it. I do love the look a rough early nascar/ round track look with wide steelies etc. Put wide 5s on it. Killer look.
And again as others have said. You wasted no time. Maybe just keep riding. All smiles.

Made it almost all the way home within about 5 miles and the generator locked up. I pulled over and took the belt off and found that If I kept it over forty the air coming through the radiator spun the Fan and water pump and it stayed about 3/4 on the temp gauge. I don't have another 6 foot 1. So I'm gonna see if I can swap a 12 vote 1 that I have and just not hook it up to work as a idler, basically. I only gotta go 5 miles down the road to the car show tomorrow.

So the front bearing is completely junk in the generator but my friend has a 57 parts car down the street. So I've got to go to the kids football game right now and then after that, I'll go snag That thing and see if I can swap the front bearing plate altogether. If not, I have a 12 V generator that maybe the front bearing would be the same.

My clubmate in the Wheeltramps was great enough to go and pull that generator while I was at the kids football game and leave it on my porch so when I got home I could swap all the guts out. GoT it all back together and it's working properly and nice and quiet. 20240426_205718.jpg 20240426_210836.jpg 20240426_212009.jpg 20240426_212043.jpg

I need a headlight and dimmer switch for this thing thanks

  11. Does that oil hole go through to the bearing or is it not drilled through, because I don't see an oiler cap.

I'll look into those fill caps. Here's a picture of the show before it got packed like sardines. Every open space of
Ground you see, was Completely packed. The Plymouth made it the 5 miles, no problem LOL. 20240427_075217.jpg

  14. Just saw this, I know the headlight switch is there, I’m sure the dimmer switch is as well. I’ll send ‘em to you for the trip there.

  15. Should be an oiler on both front and rear bearings....might even be one on the distributor (GM has them, I don't know about Mopar).

My '48 has an oil cup front and rear on generator, and one on distributor.

sad that dmv wouldn't let you use the 63 series plates. i was under the impression that if a car had them back then you can continue using them now as long as the previous owner kept the registration current or did the 'non-op' thing.

i'm a socal native and after my NAVY discharge i moved from cali in 1974 to northern az partially because of the new dmv policies and smog laws.

The previous owner kept everything up-to-date and good. They just want more money.
