My stepfather drank Schlitz back in the early 70’s before they messed it up. I was always getting caught sneaking a sip or two….

HEY! Take it easy on the Schlitz... It's a damn good beer! :D Just wish I could find more of it around here. Until then, I'll have to stick to Old Style... :p:p:p

We used to smuggle Schlitz "Tall Boy's" into the Saturday night sprint car races. Buddy would put them in his sleeves and raise his arms during the pat down. People inside would ask "hey where did you get those"? We'd say "all they way down past the Bud stand". Loved those tall boys!

In other news...it runs again. I'm letting the headers bake and sit a few times, then I'll see if the transmission is full, and maybe go for a drive.

seems to work ok. But when i put the hood back on, i forgot to put the clips in, and it flew open a block from my house, and bent pretty good. I took it off, drove back in my truck to get it, and it was gone. Sheesh.

At least it didn't damage the roof, or break the windshield, or anything that I can see.

Well, it turns out I'm not only forgetful, I'm also blind. I went for a walk, and there it was laying in the tall grass, right where I left it.

    It'll buff out, eh?

    hood11.jpg

also, there is a little ding in the roof.

Straighten it out (not perfect) and put it back on, it's a warrior after all.

I feel your pain, The same thing happened to me about 25 yrs ago in my 66 Chevy II . But it taco'd the hood and put a dent in the roof. Stock Chevy II hoods are amazingly HEAVY!

I walked on the hood a little before I locked up the shop for the night.

  28. Like in the 1970's when they moved Schaefer and Rheingold out of Brooklyn. IMO these were the 2 best tasting beers of all time... ruined forever.

On my tire balance test drive to Bisbee, I ran into some rain, and boy does it come up on the windshield without the hood on. So, I spent a few more minutes playing with the hood, and got it to sort of fit again. Still need to weld up the opening where it separated from the tube frame. Looks like crap...unless I'm going fast, then you won't even notice.
