I then welded 3 screws to the inside where the original 3 screws were to fit the backing globe holder and held it down with nuts on those screws.
So to finish I put the lens in then the globe holder plate and the nuts then later a skim of filler and sealant on the inside around the lens when the cars finally painted .
I have to stress I'm no expert just doing what I can with the tools I have

I'm always impressed when someone takes the time to do a 4 door to 2 door transformation. That's turning out reall nice. The tail lights are looking good also.

New update .. I'm shaving the door handles and didn't want to use electric door poppers
coz basically I've seen electric poppers not work and a smashed window later was the the only entry. so I made it all mechanical, I've fitted a bear claw latch ( or similar) inside the b piller with a wire that travels down the b piller and out the bottom inside of the sill / rocker panel . so to open the door just pull the wire I've also made sprung poppers at the bottom of the door just to push the door open so theres no struggle to get fingers in behind the door to get it open ImageUploadedByTJJ1336529055.388264.jpg ImageUploadedByTJJ1336529157.233973.jpg ImageUploadedByTJJ1336529250.755621.jpg door

I've also started on stripping the doors and fixing rust and dents and filling in where the door handles we're.
I started on the worse door because the good door has no rust or dents (bonus) and will just get handle holes filled then primed ImageUploadedByTJJ1336529955.433097.jpg ImageUploadedByTJJ1336530012.583430.jpg ImageUploadedByTJJ1336530071.814626.jpg ImageUploadedByTJJ1336530154.912645.jpg

The door also had a half inch gap between the door and front guard that I couldn't live with so I added round rod to the front of the door to fill it in it worked great and here's the finished door , a skim of bondo later on and I'm happy ImageUploadedByTJJ1336530434.226276.jpg ImageUploadedByTJJ1336530530.603689.jpg ImageUploadedByTJJ1336530589.764648.jpg ImageUploadedByTJJ1336530672.798336.jpg

Av88, you may find those poppers to be in the way of your back seat guest, if you relocate them to the lower part of the door then they will always be hidden and out of the way. just a suggestion
    looks great

I see what you mean and thanks for the suggestion but I'll just live with it for now I thought about running a cable that comes out just next to the front seat well see what happens later

Des ....I spent a small amount of money and got it all running I've enjoyed the hell outta it for the last 8-9 years in the mean time I've built my 30 roadster my bros 28 tub ,the log lady's 51 shoebox , half built a 28 two door pheaton for myself and learnt a heap about welding and body work ( I'm no pro but I get by) so my shoebox has worn out a bit body wise so I thought it was time to take the plunge and stop talking about it and just two door it definitely no regrets and thought I'd change some other stuff while I was there
So not to far to go I can't wait for this to be done just so I can drive it again

Ok update time well it's finally in colour
It is a mid 80s colour from Chrysler called "gold mist"
It's my first metallic paint job and is very different to a non metallic to paint, it's acrylic with clear laquer ImageUploadedByTJJ1339497368.366333.jpg ImageUploadedByTJJ1339497402.147240.jpg ImageUploadedByTJJ1339497458.497033.jpg ImageUploadedByTJJ1339497536.773971.jpg ImageUploadedByTJJ1339497584.516918.jpg

Ha just realized I missed a part of the build , getting it all in primer and ready for paint ,but we would rather forget those parts anyway , also the paint still needs sanding and polishing it will be shinny
