Many years earlier in Israel... The girl nearest the camera is 57 and has two grown up sons of her own. This was how we used to play back then, put this in a park nowadays and the authorities will hit you with a huge fine or worse

Ford is most likely been made into Uzi SMGs long ago.

A cool but sad old custom in the junkyard I saw yesterday, was a '47 Chevy Fleetline "German Helmet" sedan, was nosed and decked and the trademark fender stainless shaved, had a '49 license surround installed and the vertical guards removed, top grille bar had the lettering filled, looks to have had spotlights originally too.

The headlights were hooded, looks like some very heavy round rod was bent up into shape and welded on, then sheet-metal'd over to form the new shape. Remains of a custom green interior too. But the neatest part were the tail lights. The originals were filled, and what looked to be early Corvette lights were cut into the sides of the fenders. Not just an oblong hole either, but with sheetmetal buckets built into the fenders to hold them in place.

An odd choice for a custom car to start with, and sad to see it in this shape. But also fun to look at, and notice all of the details.

  17. A historic discovery . But did you see the oddball in the background ? A British 1959 Ford Prefect. Makes you wonder how it got there and where it was used. They make cool little racers and ofcourse the van model for the dragstrip.

@34 GAZ I did see that, I think it says Anglia 100e on it, it's a coupe. There's also an Opel Rekord P1 in this yard, too. Most of this early stuff came out of another yard that emptied out, and this guy adopted it, that's where the two foreigners came from. But the custom was actually owned by a local guy to me, although he didn't build it, and I have no idea where he got it from. It got junked when he died and they cleaned out his estate.

@Squablow cool find, neat car. I used to save all the 49 plate surrounds I could until they started re popping them. I still prefer running the originals.
