If the second character on the serial number is a U it was built in Louisville. The first one would be a zero for 1960...

  5. Wish you were my dad (when I was 16 anyway), AlI I wanted was some wheels, he wouldn't here of it. (Love him though). That's a cool ride your son has. Right on.

Like someone mentioned in an earlier post, its actually a Fairlane due to the curved read window and thin C pillar.

  8. Wow, he looks really young in pic #1, I'm sure he still gets carded. (If you would have let ME get a car at 16, I STILL wish you were my dad)

He had a bug and 2 64 comets at 15. Just traded the bug for the Fairlane

Those are neat cars, and a "one-year-only" body style. Just make sure to redo the brakes, lines, shocks, bushings, tie rods, tranny problems, etc., etc...all of the running gear first (and fix any floor/body mount problems). Then, he can drive it for awhile, get used to it, and then figure out what body, paint, and any custom touches he wants to do it.

Good luck...keep us informed on any progress !

Brakes and suspension are all done already. trunk is almost done and the drivers side floor is next. Got it running runs good still have not moved it due to the fact the gas tank is still on the floor

Your son looks pretty happy in there. This is a great starter car, McPhails ford of that ilk is one of the coolest customs ever, it is the one shown in this thread with the Rod and Custom logo. A nice primer job, painted steel wheels with some dog dish caps, some lowering blocks and a coil drop in the front would give it a great look. Ford Aerostar coils will give you a nice 2-3 inch front drop and a decent ride instead of cut coils. Some Mexican blankets on the seats and rock n roll. Good score guys, best of luck on your cool project.
