What about your original '35 trunk lid support that you showed a picture of? You offered it to me, which is way too cool on your part - but you need it much more, now that you're close to street ready as ever! And the original is MUCH more sturdy in design than these newer design types... I can find one when the time is right brother!

I think I’m going to use a model a/32 style trunk arm. It’s smaller and more out of the way. I still have my hinge it’s just kinda bulky

Great job brother! Speaking for everyone, let's get totally psyched with your first ride out caught on tape. Do you happen to have one of those handy go-pro cameras to do this job nicely?

I'm heading out to California Friday nite after work with my bro to see what all the hub-bub is about with the famous California Hot Roddin' scene! This will be the first time EVER that I will see our glorious hobby on the west coast - attending the GoodGuys 23rd Meguire's Del Mar Nationals held on the Del Mar Fairgrounds on Saturday only in Del Mar, CA! Believe me brothers, my brother and I will take a bunch of hi-res photos for all of us to enjoy - only there for a few hours and heading straight back to Mesa! Geez, this trip should prime me up for driving up to The Bonneville Salt Flats this August for SPEED WEEK!!!!

I appreciate it. Now it’s just waiting to get some linkage parts which will be here Saturday, then I can drive it. I still have to doors/hinges to work as well. I don’t have one but I have a friend that said they’d document it.

that should be a good trip, I’ve never been out there for any of the events either. Heard some good things. Looking forwarding to seeing some good pics; hopefully yall have a good time and get to see some cool cars

Seeing a badass HOT ROD in motion after long hours of the build process, building a frame from scratch, parts hunting, engine rebuilding, body work and everything else included is textbook ultimate satisfaction from the get go!!!! Nice job brother!

Just came back from a 14 hour round trip for the GoodGuys Del Mar Nationals in California! First trip ever to witness California hot rodding in a swanky setting for a hot rod event! I'll be attending these California events in my own hot rod in the near future - Pics as promised - enjoy!

Finished priming the body interior of my 34 with a light coat of primer. Hope to spray epoxy primer later this week.

Next I’ll hang the doors and brace it once squared up.
Body work will follow soon depending on what motivates me.
There’s a buckle in the wheel well on the driver side where I’ve already hammered out the crease. I need to pull the hump out of the horizontal surface do it looks like the passenger side. Options are:
    1. Cut it out - repair - weld it back.
    2. Slide hammer and stud welder.
    3. Fab large plates and squeeze it flat with 1/2” bolts through the fender holes.
Please make suggestions on how I can take out that buckle. Thanks.

Your buddy's roadster, that hot rod a '32 Chevy? Just guessin' because of the 4 vertical chrome hood vents? Dig that 40's hot rod look, the wire wheels, the chopped soft top - take a few detailed photos for us soon, will 'ya?

You have until next Friday brother, get her done - you have to be really psyched for the Round Up!

Wow! GREAT SHOTS! Don't remember seeing spinners like them on a hot rod! By the way, great idea on creating more cooling for his flathead with the Chevy hood!

That thing is coming together you’re making some great progress. My car has those driver side holes on the wheel wells too.

also my car has those some welds in the rear, I always thought it was from the chop

I had some left over from another project.
Southern Polyurethane (SPI) makes a well reviewed sandable 2 part epoxy. https://www.southernpolyurethanes.com/epoxy-primer

gotcha my body used that stuff as well it's good and the finish looks damn near like paint with the shine. I wanted to use it; but no compressor

I have zero experience when it comes to painting a car but I figured I can lay primer on the interior where it’s basically going to be a protective barrier/sealant. I mixed gray and black SPI epoxy to make my own custom gray for my 1965 Chevy C10 283ci trying to match the original truck engine gray.
How do you like what I did to my valve covers? A Corvette purist would NOT approve but I think they look pretty good. upload_2024-4-15_17-34-49.jpeg

Your's will be returned and you'll get a new one also.

Man that is looking really good!! The doors (along with other parts) on my Chevy roadster need so much work. I bought an english wheel a while ago to reskin them and unfortunately it's still on the to-do list. Somewhere along the line the doors were reversed and also want to un-do that as well.

Jay, your engine is looking good, you should think about coating those exhaust manifolds with Eastwood or POR-15 Hi-Temp Coating for exhaust manifolds (with up to 1400 degree protection) - comes in gray, silver or black. It's important that you prep the manifolds before painting and lastly, "cure" the paint - Once installed run the engine in a well ventilated area for at least 20 minutes to completely cure the coating.
