So, is this a Tremec deal? I am curious what is different about this setup? Would it be easier with a hydraulic TO bearing or slave cylinder setup?

I barfed the o-rings on the hyd TO bearing in my '40 at 28K miles and the dude who bought my '33 is getting ready to put o-rings in it also. I believe the o-rings do not like brake fluid, but that is what the manufacturer says to run. Either way, I'm not dicking with a hyd TO bearing on this one just in case. Me and Rube Goldberg have it handled with linkage.

This is the TKX, by the way, a little smaller than the TKO, but mostly the same deal.

Killer work. I really like the clutch linkage, keeping that stored in the memory bank

Good call on mechanical linkage, Iv'e seen way too many issues with aftermarket internal throw out bearings. If I must I will do an external slave. Loving this build.

Easy to catch a kneecap on the frame horns.

Shortened and in the right spot.

    cad3411-20-2.jpg

Follow the inner fender panel shape.

@flamedabone before you slipped that dash on there was some extensive gas axing done to that area...I know on Model As that technique was popular for opening up the tank...But there isn't a tank on the 34...so why, dash removal? If so weren't they a bolt in?

In the meantime have a great day of Hotrod, cake, a beverage and a Happy Birthday...;)

Thanks for the Birthday wishes Stogy. The area behind the dash was torched out when I got it. There were a lot of WTF things done to the poor little car in a previous life, that is just one of them.

I was so looking forward to using the stock exhaust manifolds on this little car, but shitty planning on my part put them in the same space where the inner fender panels want to be. No amount of grinding or making a bubble in the panel was going to make it happen.

    cad3411-26-1.jpg

So I picked up a set of 390 Cad to '34 Ford engine swap headers.

    cad3411-26-2.jpg

Hot rods to Hell makes a nice set of flanges for the Cad.

    cad3411-26-3.jpg

After a weekend of cutting and grinding, a set of headers appears.

    cad3411-26-4.jpg

    Dick Fitzwell.

    cad3411-26-5.jpg

    Plenty of clearance.

    cad3411-26-6.jpg

The rest of the exhaust was pretty simple. Around the clutch linkage and the oil filter, but no big deal.

    cad3411-26-7.jpg

Still has to come apart for full welding, but this is the basic idea.

    cad3411-26-8.jpg

I stuck a pair of shocks on her. Not sure if the chrome is staying, but they were the only thing I had laying around.

    cad3411-26-9.jpg

And that is the last thing that needs to be done before I can build the firewall and floor pan. Might just be a whole car someday.

So there was a thought that I would surely die with the steering rod angle on my little car. It looked pretty decent when I was eyeballing everything, but now the box is mounted and the header is built, it was way too far off.

    cad34steeringrod.jpg

Here is the old setup. Header and box happily co-existing, just in the wrong place.

    cad34box1.jpg

I was able to build a new center tube and stick the box in its new spot.

    cad34box2.jpg

Made some new merge tubes and she is all welded up.

    cad34box3.jpg

New angle is way better and the day is saved.

    cad34box4.jpg

Last weekend, I started on the firewall. The old one was made from 3/16 plate and a little geometric for my taste. And who knows It was probably made to fit a goddam Chevvie or something.

    cad3412-10-1.jpg

I left the top piece the last few months to help keep the body lined up and you have seen it look like this.

    cad3412-10-2.jpg

Time to fix it. Here is the new upper panel.

    cad3412-10-3.jpg

And, I never remember to take pictures while I am building stuff, so here it is tacked.

    cad3412-10-4.jpg

And here it is pretty much done. I have always dug race cars with gauges in the dash. This is definitely not a race car, but I'm doing it anyway.

    cad3412-10-5.jpg

Next up is floorboards in this pile. Catch you next time.

Jeff, did you build your own header flanges or buy some ?

  29. If we need to make some, I can make them Chris. I will need some too. But, good question for Jeff.

True. A set of gaskets would be a good template for the waterjet.
