Thats one bitchin coupe the detailing is fantastic ,but this speedo has really taken my eye, the detailing is great...
Busby's a cool guy (some people don't care for him...maybe it's because he has more money than they do, I don't know). I haven't talked to him in a while, but last time I did, he was "downsizing" a little as far as his collection of cars was concerned. Don't recall why. My friend has a little furniture-building shop in the old complex where Jim keeps his toys, and I always spent more time in there drooling than in Van's shop, for obvious reasons. Jim's son David was building Flatheads for a while, too, but not sure what he's up to now. Might just have to take a drive down there and find out now.
I love 5 windows and remember seeing pictures of this before, but hey, I could see them every week for the rest of my life and not get sick of it.
I've got pictures of this car hanging on my bulletin board. The 5w I've had for 30 years could suffer a worse fate than to end up looking like that. the crowning touch would be the '57 Caddy Eldorado engine that I've been trying to buy. It was built in '59 for an A pickup that went into storage in '62. the truck was revived in '89 and the engine replaced by a 350 sbc. The Caddy has been sitting under the owners bench since then. It has all of the old time goodies, dual quads, hildebrant valve covers, genuine behive filter, roller cam, ported heads, and limefire style headers that were chromed in '59 and still look like new. Last fall I almost had him convinced to sell it to me and his wife was pushing him to let go. About time for another visit. Frank
I watched that car bieng built from day one, somewhere i have pics of it as it came along in the process. Jim is a neat guy, i visit him often and always something new at his shop to look at.
Fuck me. I about passed out when I scrolled down through all the pics. Ran out of air on the second one, and was in a holding pattern looking at the engine details. Still dizzy. Think I'm gonna make it. I just don't have words to describe it. Beautiful just doesn't get close.
i love the one off type of stuff on this car like the police edition speedo. i haven't been around here very long but i'd take a guess and say that piece is on the rare side.
Yeah - that coupe's pretty nice - but here's my favorite Busby car. No caddy this time though - Ford all the way. (-:
WOW...that is some beautiful pics! And what a detailed story. Stories and pics, the real reason for the HAMB! Jon
I need one of those speedo's for my coupe.....it's rather appropriate considering it's what I do for a living. (You hearing me Dirty? ) Bill
That coupe is pure sex on a stick. Fuckin A! Stan292, any more pics or info on that other monster?? Doc.
Thanks for the pics. I've only seen very small event photos of that car in magazines. It's good to see the little details. This is a HOT ROD!!
Haven't seen Jim Busby in a long time wonder if he still has the Bell Timing tag I gave him..... I'm sure he's killed the peanut butter machine Yes He's a good guy with a bunch-o-money and know how to have fun with it!
