    Well... things have escalated with the olds rear...

    My pal @hiboy32 found a old chrome olds axle out of a hot rod with brackets and all, he picked it up today and will bring it up when him and his sons BMX race up here next week- (-: (-: so stoked!

    The chrome cleans up- teaser pic (-;

    IMG_3183.JPG

    I'll post more when I get it home and cleaned up and get the brakes converted to Buick! (-:

    Hot rods rule! But the friends you make along the way rule even more!!!

    3:48 ratio and b/c redrilled to ford 5x5.5 pattern

    It was a great weekend!! (-;

    [IMG]

    So... Bolt circle I posted earlier was wrong- they were drilled to Chevy 4.75 so I mounted my slicks on the pair of Mickey Thompson mags I picked up this summer because it would be rude not too- and I don't even have any Chevy steelies-

    [IMG]

    King of mock ups. Just picture chrome rear with Buick finned drums in both corners (-; boootay-!

    Still toying with fenders. Cut and slice and feeling it out as I go-

    Also found a pair of these after I bought singles damnit-
    [IMG]
    I want to run refracted bulbs for the lows-

    Oh and Maple raced her first BMX race this weekend! (-: @hiboy32 and his kids took home trophies too-

    Thanks man!! The local chrome guy quoted me $300 for my olds rear in the roadster if I polish the shit out of it first. :)

    I could live with $300. I will see if I can work something out locally. Any sixties hot rod worth its salt should have a chromed rear end housing!:)

    I'm seeing a magnificent 60s show rod come to life in this thread. So blown away........

  22. That is exactly right - chrome the crap out of everything you can - or polish it if it is aluminum or mag! I'm building a 34 coupe in the Mooneyham 555 era style - will have to chrome the whole suspension to be "correct". Is a very costly thing - but yah gotta do, what cha gotta do! LOL

    Glen, There is a guy in my hometown that has a 30-31 version of this car. Its flat black and has the same tires. I've never been a fan of the tires but I've always thought they were inspired by Dave Bell the artist. They just look like those doodles in the back of Rod and Custom... Do you know when that car was built? I would guess early-mid eighties?

    In the early nineties I remember being going to shows and seeing guys build hot rods with independent suspensions that had a similar rake- bright red paint and all finished out. I recall thinking how complicated it all seemed. I think that's why I love building chassis's so much- its like mastering all of that you couldn't do when you were a kid. Man I wanted to be building stuff back then. I literally didn't have shit= know-how, tools, money.

    Maybe I posted these pics already in this post... I dunno where I got them maybe here on the hamb or IG? Cool coupe with quads, cycle fenders and nerf bar-

    How very eloquently put Mr. Campbell. It is indeed. The rear wheels sure have me puzzled though...looks like full wheel covers of some sort, but I'm not sure

    They look like mid 60's Chrysler hubcaps to me? A very cool rod regardless .

    Man I just reread this thread over the last 2 evenings.
    Man this project is awesome. I am also envious of your ability to find the parts that seem to be made of Unobtanium
