I just about finished the floor, and got my steering column and wheel mocked up.

Does anyone have a suggestion for headers or exhaust manifolds for a small block Ford in a Model A on ‘32 rails? I have Vega box.

I got the base welded up with no problems. I think I will venture out and find a slip roller to do the center section. IMG_1162.JPG IMG_1164.JPG

I moved to Louisiana recently and got my 62 Belair out of storage and trailered down. Last few days I’ve been cleaning getting ready to bring in the shop. 21C008A8-A3EF-4443-8A24-DCD250176C22.jpeg 075DDDB2-396C-425D-8AEC-BB8F98E66F04.jpeg

  7. Finished blocking out the front fenders and squirted some black sealer on them; hauled them up to the garage, and hung them in place. Now on to finish the nose of the hood without messing the fenders up; not sure why I didn't do that before I took the fenders off.

done did the firewall, then realised the battery wont go on the firewall as the thing stuck up too far, got to put it under the seat, run longer cables to the elastic trickery doohickeys

  9. Spent the afternoon fitting the fender to cowl bolts, the inner fender bolts, and the front pans; amazing how things that were bolted together a year ago fail to line up again.

Just going over parts of my ‘62 260 chasing threads, cleaning gasket surfaces, ect getting ready to assemble. Found stripped threads on one of the fuel pump bolt holes in timing cover. Better I found it now than later! :)
Now out come the taps. IMG_0391.jpeg

I made a little progress this week on my air cleaner. The snorkels are welded in place, I added three stops to locate the filter element. There is still some clean up work on the spot welds and then get it closed up and make the top. IMG_1192.JPG IMG_1193.JPG

The air cleaner is finished. I am very satisfied with how it turned out. Now to install some inlets in the front fenders and run the hose. IMG_1195.JPG IMG_1198.JPG

Many of you probably know how bulky and ugly a marine intake/exhaust manifold is for a 120 HP Mercruiser engine. Well, over the last couple days I cut all of the "marine" stuff off of one to use the intake portion on a Chevy/Mercruiser 4-banger I plan to use in my Model A Tudor. It took about 2 days, a sawsall, cut-off wheel, milling machine, bandsaw, angle and straight die grinders with sanding discs and a carbide cutter, and a metal chip in one of my eyes to convert one to this......

You are absolutely right. I looked for some safety glasses today and couldn't find any in the shop but I'll guarantee you I will be picking up a pair of safety glasses.

I didn't have much grinding left to do with a carbide cutter today but I'll guarantee you I made sure I was positioned so that the chips were being thrown out away from me.

They have to go in the outer fender
Thanks, I have really enjoyed building this truck. Other than the store bought solid motor mounts everything is home fabricated. So the old air cleaner was just of of place. And this is what I came up with. Hopefully it will pick the truck up and not slow it down !

I like it! One suggestion, add a bug screen to your design if you haven't already planned for one. My 442 has fresh air intakes under the bumper and they pick up leaves, rocks, insects and even a plastic bag once. Your engine will definitely enjoy the added cool air.

Good point, Thanks. I had not thought that far thru it. One thing I did think of this morning is the hoses in the wheel wells will be exposed to road debri. But this thing sees limited use as I am a worn out old guy and my travels are not many these days. I stopped by a buddies shop this afternoon IMG_1203.JPG and this piece of stainless was laying there so I probably have the inlet screen taken care of.

I am still chugging along on this project. The whole truck is very easy to service so it took about two minutes to pull the fender off so I could get it up on the table. Then my original idea did not go as planned , so after a couple more attempts I got back on track. I plug welded the the snorkel into the fender that way it keeps the same look as the rest of the truck as far as the welds go. The inlet is about 3/16 of an inch proud of the fender so I have to grind that down and I might weld it in solid and the plan right now is to put a couple pieces in the replicate the grill bars.
