What is your favorite Hot Rod of all time??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by dutched32, Jun 20, 2008.

  1. For coupes, it's probably gotta be this one - Doyle Gammels
And for Roadsters - Phill Cool's or Gary Kessler's

The above mentioned Pierson Bros. coupe is the zenith of hot rodding for me. Followed closely by the Chrisman coupe and Wally Park's 29 roadster which is just about as sweet as a model A can get. If I ever have a 29, it will look exactly like that one.

This is strictly in the "looks" categories, which is a confusing thing when picking a favorite amongst what are supposed to be performance cars.
We should be picking from the cars that ran the fastest and or quickest at the dragstrip, lakes or oval track. if it's actually about the "HOT" part of the title.

As far as "Hot Rods" go, Chauvin Emmons' Indy Roadster nosed T was the car that made me go "WOW" the first time I saw it in the magazines in the early '60s.

"Street Rods" I like about any tastefully lowered and conservatively painted, bumpered, full fendered, still hooded '33 or '34 Ford roadster, phaeton, 3 window coupe or two door sedan.

"Show Rods" I liked Dean Jeffries' Mantaray best and still do.

And if this includes anything pre '49 then the Cushenbery Matador is at the top of the list

I love the Chrisman Sedan (above).

Hard to have ONE favorite though. I keep finding new things.

Got to agree with you on that one DR. Second choice would be the Phil Cool roadster, followed by the Graffiti coupe.

I've seen dozens that I like and would love to own. Even if I could own them all, I don't think I would still be able to pick a favorite.

That being said, I have always liked the Pierson Bros coupe, it screams HOTROD!

Other than that I guess my real favorite is mine. Maybe not anyone's choice but mine, but I got to go with what moves me.:D

This is torture. The person who started this thread should be banned for some time until he repents and appologizes for causing such angst.
This is going to screw up my whole weekend!

I agree with THAMESVAN...Milner's yellow deuce coupe in American Graffiti.

I don't understand how it could have possibly taken 37 posts to get to it. It's arguably the most recognizable hot rod in the world.

I know its a pretty deep thought question, but I'd hate it to consume a whole weekend!

  24. The Arin Cee roadster, built by Pete Millar. Hands down.

  25. I can agree with every post, my personal favorite would have to be my buddy Bob Porters L-88 powered 32 3 window. it was a daily driven and nightly raced and used as a tow car to flat tow his race car on weekends. some call it Doyle Gammels coupe when had a 283 and a hydro. now it's a over restored mix of all the above. still a nice car

  30. I think it's called Doyle Gammels Coupe, cuz Doyle built it when he worked for Roth in the early 60's. Later it was Tom Schiffilea who swapped in the L88.
Such an Iconic car that Doyle missed it so much he cloned his own damn car! How cool is that
