I want to build an AV8, but I don’t want to spend the time doing the patch panels. (been there done that) Is their any shame in buying from brookville and just getting it done.

Not to my way of thinking. If you've got the bucks to do it that way, by all means do it. Look up some of the threads about building with Brookville material.

As far as I'm concerned, no shame. My Model A is half Brookville and half Henry.

In my thinking I can spend the same money but have to fix versus just buying and getting on the road.

Is it a "hot rod"......., or is it a restoration ???
(The answer to your question is not-so-sneakily hidden in my question.;))

Guys that hot rod cars and then post “real Henry steel” when it’s mode out of 12 bodies, 3 washing machines and 6 rolls of TIG wire are the ones that need a little shame.

it’s a car. It has no soul. Just a bloody vehicle. Build out the way you like it, drive it, enjoy your life in it and leave the shame behind you.

don’t over think this. They are cars.

My roadster was made from an original 31.A friend of mine helped me with the body work, which was very time consuming. Then he built one with a Brookville body. There were some small things you could tell between the two, but nothing that makes that much difference. His build was a lot less of a hassle and went faster then mine. The Brookville body looks great and they strengthened them where the body cracks in the curve behind the door thru the belt line on top. If your not just looking for something to spend a lot of time on go with the Brookville.

Thank you. Henry didn’t make his steel people did just like brookville. Then men make the hotrod not the manufacturer.

What a great statement! It’s a hot rod you don’t have to have permission to build one. The only one that has to be satisfied with the end product is yourself.

Thats exactly what I did. Man was I surprised what things looked like when I got it apart and got the paint off. Those restorer's can hide a lot. Something that was going to go quick and easy took a long time. Pretty much had forgotten that until now.

  23. Yeah you definitely gotta be careful of the "rust repairs"

I could have bought an original 29 body locally . At that time in my life , I wasn't in the mood to deal with replacing rust, so I went the Brookville route. Bill

    Amen to this!
I drive my hopped up A's and 90% of the folks I encounter have no idea of the origin of the vehicle...the first question out of there mouth is "what year is it"?....it is just a lead line to tell me about the old car in their life.....
....you can mess with them and say "it's a 2025"....get on with the build so it isn't a '26 or really procrastinate so you can say "it's a '32"

I have a Brookville 29 body, 32 frame, stroked fatty, and a bunch of parts I would sell. Located in eastern Iowa
