Hey fellas... just clawed my way back into the fiery pit that is Texas after 26 hours of sleepless wandering through airports, jet blasts, and existential rot. The forum’s acting up, I see it too, but my brain is cooked and bleeding fumes. I’ve passed the baton to the German, but it might be tomorrow before the beast gets tamed. Hang tight for me… and sorry for the chaos.
Who’s the German just so I know who not piss off. I have two rules with trades type people: Don’t piss off the IT guy Don’t piss off the plumber Dan Oh and welcome back.
Hello, Posting photos from my own files had the same problem, but if one reads the "Issues with uploading/missing photos section" and the "A Study in opinions. Favorite historic customs" section. There was an easy fix on our own computers or laptop programs. It had to do with large MP photos copied and pasted or tried to paste onto a thread. Then the large "photo too large" tab popped up to prevent any photos to be added to any story. So, a minor adjustment was able to correct the problem on my own computer. Yes, my photos are shot with a large MP digital camera, but they were adjusted smaller to fit the HAMB thread. Jnaki It is better today, but the large copied photos should be adjusted for clarity and composition, anyway... YRMV The added value to the size of the photos are such that now, there is more room on my laptop hard drive due to the adjusted photo sizes. ha! Now, I don't have to buy another 5TB external hard drive to save all of the digital photos I shoot, or my wife shoots.
My bud was having a heck of a time registering the other day... forum wouldn't send him a confirmation email for anything. I think someone manually activated his account, because he still doesn't receive emails... @Saulman Thanks for looking after the ship as always.
The German’s been my go-to warlock for over 30 years... whenever the wires fry and the code turns to voodoo beyond my grasp, he’s the one I call. Used to run the day-to-day show around here, back when he still worked for money. These days? Let’s just say there are entire nation states (and maybe a classifieds fraud or two) that regret crossing him. Poking that man is a suicide mission.
I loved the Ridgid Calenders at work in the machineshop and tool room for years….then some squat complained and. They were all gone from every location.
I coded a small LED light to work once with crayon drawn instructions people that work magic with that stuff are aliens or something
on a positive note while thinking it was my computer and blindly searching for answers I found a bunch of crap that was slowing down my computer and deleted it.
Wish I had a guy like the German, maybe they could teach me what cut and paste means. Thank you for keeping this a great site for all of us.
I got the ‘photo too large’ response so I just edited the frame smaller. Kinda like an analog way of dealing with a digital problem, but it worked. Didn’t even know there was an issue. Thank you for creating and maintaining this non-social media platform. It has kept me going more than I care to admit.
I once knew a guy who got burned on a hot rod part… over four grand straight into the void. The seller took the cash and vanished like a fart in the wind. PayPal made it right, sure, but it gnawed at him that some asshole walked off with clean money. Now I’m not saying the German had a hand in what happened next, but about a year later, that same dirtbag’s PayPal account, fat with over ten grand was mysteriously drained. Every cent landed in the coffers of a local charity. People think the internet makes them ghosts. It doesn’t. Not even close.
