I just found this thread and I love hot rod toys!! The bulk of my collection is slot cars, mostly HO. As I find my pics and take more, I'll post 'em here. 1st up are my reproduction Aurora Thunderjet Hot Rods. These were repros of the Super Modified made by Dash. I took the wings and side pipes off and will put Dash Hot Rod sidepipes and keep the nerf bars. Now I gotta start looking through this thread to see what else in here! Marty Marysville, OH
Here's a Buddy L traveling zoo truck that my father and I just got done modifying. We dropped it around 3/4" and made a wooden bed for it, also in the picture a thimble drome tether car and, a Structo dump truck.
This is one of my favorite slot cars!! I got this at a toy show years ago. I had to switch out the rear tires to run it, the originals are too dry to use. It hasn't been on a track for years: Marty Marysville, OH
I too love hot rod toys. Check this one out. A friend of mine got it at a flea market. We've all seen this model before but this one has a special decal.
They have been reissued: http://round2models.com/models/mpc/beep-beep-t/mpc718-01 Marty Marysville, OH
I collected a LOT of toys as reference when I was working in the toy industry, but I've slowed down my collecting a lot since I retired. Mine were more open-wheeled race cars than hot rods, but I have a lot of both: ...and a couple of Pinewood Derby cars: I made those two, but on the rare occasions that I find a nice one at a garage sale, I buy it.
I dig the custom slots man, way to cool. Heres a couple shots of some of mine, not near as custom as your stuff but I love em.
One of the shorter lived HO slot car manufacturers was Riggen. My favorites were the Mr Hot Rod Series Marty Marysville, OH
This was purchased as a kit. No chassis or tires. I didn't care for the wheels supplied so I replaced them with a "spinner" type wheel. It is supposed to be able to show off the engine under the hood but I chose not to put it in. The hood is hinged and does stay down while running. It also comes with a matching trailer that I will not use. Marty Marysville, OH
