Diving a 70 year old car has to be one of the greatest things to do. All prepped and looking forward to the Goodguys Pleasanton event celebrating the 70th for ti-fives.
Cool ride…So what is the story? Did you spot the car in the magazine and seek it out, did you know of its existence prior the the pic in the mag, or was that your place? Great save regardless.
The story I got was that whomever rescued her knew about the car for some time before finally buying it sometime after the magazine article. She went to the Midwest and was rebuilt and then sold to the guy I got it from in 2021. She was in the Cody Wyoming area until I bought her this year.
It's fun, isn't it? Such a great analog experience, when modern cars are so far removed from that. I feel like anyone who says they enjoy driving yet does not own an old car is really missing out on a lot.
It's a completely different experience. Modern cars are so refined, you are not as connected to the machine. With a more basic machine, we are much more a part of the movement. No stability control, no ABS, no comfort settings - just your hands, feet and butt connected to the machine. Took my mid 60s car into the foothills last week for a 30 mile blast and drove it hard. Windows down, open winding road ahead and a motorcyclist who tried to keep up. Not today bub.
Chevy got it right with the Nomad. A 55 is on my bucket list. Around 1969 I had my 54 Vette swapped to a girl I knew with a 56 Nomad. Her dad nixed the deal because he wanted her in the bigger heavier car. I know where there is an original owner 57 sitting in a back yard. Not for sale and will be a big fight between the 2 sons when mom and dad die. It was their first new car and they are in their 90s now. I did buy their 23' GMC motorhome though.
nice. what are the specs? crate engine, M-20, and rear end? Looks like a ps change too. Has all the glass been changed and or is tinted or the glass smoked? Nice ride
ZZ4 350, Richmond 4 Speed, Stock Rear 355 gears, Smoked Glass, PS & PB, Dropped Spindles and Lowering blocks on the rear.
I’ve been ask numerous times about the aluminum fan shroud. Unfortunately I have searched and cannot find anything about it anywhere. I did happen to find one one Facebook marketplace and snatched it up for my other 55.
