Hey, if any of y'all going to Nashville Goodguys, you gotta go check out the teak wood top that Ricky Howard, “Built by Ricky”. Ricky got some serious skills. He digitally scanned the roof to get exact radius angles front to back and side to side to perfectly match Model A roof lines, then CNC’d the teak wood to match perfectly. We turned the wood slats to run inline and gives you the feeling of forward motion, even when you’re sitting still. It’s a trip!

Thanks! I hadn’t seen that video yet. Lots of Smileage!

  3. Gene Winfield ran a set on his lakes car "The Thing" they were definitely an improvement over the first set of aluminum heads that were on the car.

I'd imagine that with a scan of the profile, one could make a metal or 'glass cover that could carry a perimeter seal and attach through the slats for weather resistance. Just a matter of if that is desired. This may not be within the typical build limitations, but this build is well beyond that. Beautiful!

After looking at the weather forecast this weekend I’m leaving my woody at the house and taking my wife’s GMC. That is a gorgeous car and you shouldn’t have any problems with contention for Hot Rod of the Year award! I’m a firm believer in driving them like you stole them but I remember one year dad and I had a door swell shut when we had to drive it all day in a pouring rain coming home from a show. And I’m too old to be climbing though a window like the Dukes of Hazard :D

Great car. It looks comfortably raw. Nice blend of unique features that are tied together without any of them distracting from the over all build.

Is there a boat yard close by that could shrink wrap the top for rail protection?

  9. I have this poster I've saved for the last 35 years because it was too nice to throw away, but I never had a use for it.
The back story is that it was made for an open house party when the print shop where I worked celebrated the new installation of the largest printing press (at the time) in Houston.
Let me know via PM if you want it for the shipping cost.

Well….here we go folks. Kong rolled fast and really low to the ground alongside Will Posey’s beautiful Gold Rush ’32. Rain or shine, we rolled into Superspeedway from the metropolis of Hokes Bluff, Alabama for the 19th Goodguys BASF Nashville Nationals. The trip was flawless and now we’re sittin’ pretty and ready to compete for the Hot Rod of the Year. If you’re coming to the show, stop by and check it out!
