My father was a mechanic for Browning-Ferris Industries in California, and was always out in the driveway working on one of our small fleet of cars. He used to bring home bicycles that people threw away on a regular basis, give them to me, and say, "This is what's wrong with it, you know where my tools are, go to it." So, for the next ten or so years, I was the "go-to" guy in the neighborhood who oculd fine-tune any kind of bicycle there was. Eventually, when I moved to Arizona, I started longing for something else to tinker with, and picked up a pocketbike for $ 80.00 from a guy who was getting ready to pitch it out. A few years later, I'm on my sixth pocketbike, custom-built another out of tire irons and goped wheels, and have two gopeds.
